As we close in on the final month of the season, the action intensifies as teams look to lock in their final positions in a closely fought State League Women’s season.

UNSW Lions vs Western NSW Mariners, Sunday 31st July 2016, David Phillips Field, 3pm

First takes on third in a pivotal contest which will go a long way to deciding the destination of the premiership.

The home side come into the weekend on a two game streak which will be severely tested against the league’s best defense.

UNSW Lions boast the league’s top two scorers in Rachelle Godman and Georgia Goulding both coming off braces last weekend.

Western NSW Mariners had last weekend off but seem to enjoy the colder weather as they are undefeated this month.

All these elements make for a mouth watering contest as the league’s top scorers take on the best defense Sunday afternoon at David Phillips Field.

Parramatta FC vs St George FC, Sunday 31st July 2016, Melita Stadium, 3pm

St George FC hold faint hopes of making the finals and aim to collect another three points at Melita Stadium this weekend.

The Saints scored a valuable one goal victory over Gladesville last weekend thanks to Lily Chen’s fourt goal of the season.

Now they head to Sefton to help out their goal difference against the last placed Parramatta FC side.

The visitors need to be weary of Alexandria Colosimo in the Parramatta midfield who starred last time these two played.

Gladesville Ravens vs SD Raiders, Sunday 31st July 2016, Peel Park, 3pm

Two sides coming off last start losses come together to turn their fortunes around at Peek Park this Sunday afternoon.

Gladesville sit nine points out of the finals race and a victory over the fourth placed Raiders can help them try to bridge the gap.

For that they need young midfielder Isabelle Hatton and the rest of the Ravens to be at the top of their game against a tough Raiders side.

The Raiders seek to rebound from their 4-1 loss to UNSW Lions and reestablish themselves as a top dog in State League Women’s.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers vs APIA Leichhardt Tigers, Sunday 31st July 2016, Popondetta Park, 3pm

Fresh from their best performance of the season, APIA head west to continue their run and chase down Western NSW in first.

Christina Ferreyra and Filiz Urkanci were in fine form producing six of the Tigers nine goals in the impressive rout.

Tigers coach Matteo Maiorana will expect a similar performance from his team against a dogged Town Rangers side.

The home side look to pull off possibly the upset of the season at Popondetta Park this Sunday in a highly anticipated clash.
