Southern Districts Football Association completed a successful four-day Girls football clinic as participants were treated to some fantastic coaching, partaking in a number of skills and drills.

Whilst learning and developing skills on each day, time was set aside to work on the girls speed and footwork with each day finishing off with games.

Former Matildas and W-League star and now SD Raiders head coach and player Catherine Cannuli was delighted with how the clinics played out and was appreciative of all the smiles she saw on the Girls faces during the four-day event.

“It’s so rewarding running these holiday clinics.

“The time spent focusing on speed work and core skills is important and fundamental to their development as a whole.

“Seeing the girls applying what we had worked on in the game is probably the most pleasing part as a coach.”

Servet Uzunlar, a former Matildas and now Sydney FC W-League star and Football NSW Game Development Officer for Women and Girls also echoed Cannuli’s sentiments in what was a well-run clinic.

“It’s fantastic to see the girls enjoy themselves and learn on the way.

“To see their confidence and progress grow over the days was extremely rewarding.

“The girls also received some Football NSW giveaways, along with the Westfield W-League draw.

“The girls were already locking in what game they were going to attend.

“I strayed them to all the Sydney FC games.”
