New Granville District Soccer Football Association CEO Mike Quarmby has vowed that 2017 will herald a new and exciting year for NSW’s oldest football association as it sets it sights on a number of key targets and initiatives in moving the game forward.

Quarmby outlined that there will be a three-year strategic plan set for the GDSFA focussing heavily on clubs and how the association can better service their football experiences.

“As discussed at our recent AGM, with the loss of clubs to the new Hills Association, we are now on a re-building phase and this strategic plan once implemented will make Granville one of the great Associations to play for.

“Initiatives of the plan include the competitions you play in and these competitions are the core to our organisations success.

“We are re-introducing the Cottam and Presidents cup which will be run in March. The Cottam Cup is over 100 years old.

“In addition to the senior teams of Granville, teams from other Associations will be invited to participate ensuring the level of competition is attained, making this Cup in the future, as one of the most recognised and sought after cups within NSW.

“I recently attended an Associations meeting at which delegates in attendance overwhelmingly supported being invited into the two tournaments.

“Further, the cups will have prizemoney and promoted heavily, through Granville, Football NSW and those Associations competing.

“Staying on competitions, clubs also asked us to provide an open and transparent disciplinary model that is strict, transparent and consistent. This is to ensure that the game day experience will be enjoyable by stamping out unruly behaviour on and off the field. This will no doubt have some controversies but we are committed to focussing on the big picture this will provide to the game.

“One final initiative I wish to highlight is found under “Finance and Administration” it is called “GDSFA TV” and will be developed for the purposes of filming highlights of games throughout the Association, to further promote the experience of playing football within your club. GDSFA TV will also be used to highlight and promote the great volunteers within your club.”
