Due to the extreme temperatures forecast for this coming weekend with temperatures predicted in excess of 45°c across Sydney and NSW, Football NSW is taking a proactive approach and has determined that the following must apply for the benefit of the health and safety of all participants and consistent with the duty of care we owe to them. 

In adopting this approach, Football NSW is ensuring that primacy is given to the health and safety of participants.

The following is mandatory:

• Training or trial activities: – all cancelled

*Please note, we have taken the appropriate measures to manage the current Futsal Competition fixtures that are currently scheduled.

Sunday, 12 February 2017

• Training activities: – all cancelled

• SAP trial games: – all cancelled

• Youth trial games: – all cancelled

• U18’s trial games: – all cancelled

• U20’s/Reserve Grade trial games: – *Postpone to 5.30pm or 6.00pm kick off or cancel if agreed by both teams

• 1st Grade trial games: – *Postpone to 7.30pm or 8.00pm kick off or cancel if agreed by both teams

*For the U20’s/Reserve Grade and 1st grade trial games postponed to commence at 5.30pm or later, a review of weather conditions must be conducted at 5.00pm prior to the games proceeding.

Football NSW Referees have been advised of Football NSW’s position and, as such, Referees will not be in attendance for the matches referred to above as cancelled. 

Referees appointed to the late afternoon U20’s & 1st Grade matches on Sunday will liaise with Clubs to assess weather conditions at 5.00pm (as stated above).

HOT WEATHER POLICY REMINDER

Clubs and associations are reminded of the maximum cancellation temperatures recommended for training, games and football activities as contained in the FNSW Hot Weather Policy

CHILDREN – 32°C cancellation temperature for games, training and activities involving children

ADULTS – 37C cancellation temperature for games, training and activities involving adults

Cancellation of training or games at lower temperatures may be necessary.
The safety and welfare of all players and participants and particularly children must be a priority in these extreme weather conditions.
