Chris Payne snapped up by East Bengal FC
PlayStation4 National Premier League 2016 Premiers and NPL Champions Sydney United 58 were dealt a blow with the news that their ace marksman Chris Payne has signed with Indian League outfit East Bengal FC.
The 2016 PS4 NPL NSW Men’s Golden Boot winner who racked up 22 goals, replaced Kyrgyzstan striker Ildar Amirov, who was let go by the club.
Payne becomes coach Trevor Morgan’s fourth foreign signing and will hope the former Edensor Park fan favourite impresses more so than Amirov who failed to deliver in the five matches he took part in which prompted the coach to look elsewhere for some much needed firepower.
Payne made his debut for the club on overnight (Wednesday 15th of February) when East Bengal FC played out a 1-1 draw with Shillong Lajong FC.
Sydney United 58 have moved swiftly in looking at a replacement for Payne with the club expected to resign former skipper Robbie Mileski.
