Sydney United 58 FC thirsty for more silverware

It was a year for the record books at Sydney United 58 in 2016.

A PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Premiership title, a PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues Australia title and victory in the Waratah Cup were all won by the boys from Edensor Park in a season of incredible football.

However, the side’s grand final defeat to Blacktown City will cut deep as United enter the 2017 season.

With a new coach and fresh from a week of preparing for the upcoming season with global football big spenders Shanghai Shenhua in China, Sydney United 58 will be determined to take their game to an all new level led by new skipper Nick Stavroulakis.

The Coach

After an eight year apprenticeship coaching through the grades at Sydney United 58, Davor Bajsic has been  the man to replace Mark Rudan after the veteran coach stepped down to take up a role as assistant coach with the Young Socceroos.

Bajsic’s time working his way up the ranks at the club, as well as a 15-year career as a player predominately in Croatia’s top league.

Bajsic has pledged to follow a similar blueprint to the one which found Rudan so much success in his time at United, but believes his unique approach can help the team improve this season.

Rudan has left a big mark at Sydney United 58 and the pressure will be on Bajsic to do the same.

Objectives

Defeat in last season’s grand final still hurts for Sydney United 58’s players.

On the cusp of a record four titles in a season, Rudan’s side fell short at the final hurdle.

The pain of last season is something Bajsic will try to build on with Sydney United 58’s passionate fans always demanding success.

A trophy less season won’t tolerated at the club and Bajsic will have his players hungrier than ever to win.

Panny Nikas – Arguably the most talented player in the PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition, Nikas is a dream to watch and on his day can win a match single handedly.

Capable of splitting defences with a perfectly placed pass or skilled dribble, Sydney United 58’s mercurial attacker will once again play a vital role in his team’s success.  

Rising Star

Thomas Manos – One of the unheralded heroes of Sydney United 58’s incredible 2016 season.

The young shot stopper was a revelation between the sticks and played a big part in his side’s league best defensive record.

After a season training with Sydney FC and playing in the National Youth League, Manos returns to Sydney United Sports Centre better than ever and ready to take his game to another level with the hope of bagging a full time Hyundai A-League contract as well.
