SELECT Futsal Premier League Grand Final Day
Valentine Sports Park played host to its third and final Futsal Grand Finals action; this time the highly anticipated SELECT Futsal Premier League competitions took centre stage in what was a fantastic Saturday afternoon at Football NSW headquarters in Glenwood.
12 BOYS
Inner West Magic Futsal Club produced a stunning first half display to romp home winners in the 12 Boys 7-1 this morning at Valentine Sports Park.
The star of the show was Clayton Taylor for the Magic with a four-goal haul which propelled his side to the title. Although it was Joseph Calusic that opened the scoring in the second minute.
It didn’t take long for Taylor to register his first though from a surging run down the court which he arrowed into the bottom right corner for a 2-nil lead.
If his first was a solo effort, the third goal for the Magic was a well worked team goal. Taylor drifted into enough space for the cut-back as he slammed it into the net.
Inner West were at full stride as Calusic completed his brace with 12 minutes on the clock with a goal effort that evaded the Enfield Rovers keeper.
Kaidyn Wright had a rare opportunity for the Rovers in the first half as he smacked a thunderous effort against the post.
Two minutes after the break and Taylor had his hat-trick with a stabbed effort. Not a minute later, he made it four from a good Calusic pass for 5-nil.
Salvatore Ciolino added the sixth in the 24th minute as he swept home. Inner West Magic were bulldozing their way to 12 Boys title.
Enfield Rovers ended the game on a high as Colin Callil registered their sole strike last in the contest to make it 7-1 in a dominant opener to the day’s action.

Mountain Majik Futsal Club edged out a tense 13 Girls final as Pene Bonovas scored either side of half-time to secure the title.
Amity Jackson was a huge figure for the Mountain Majik as the goalkeeper was called into action early from a Sophia Konstantinidis shot.
The Majik responded quickly themselves as they crashed an effort against the post as an early danger sign in the contest.
Both sides traded chances in the first ten minutes as Bryleeh Henry swept an effort wide for the Inner West Magic.
It was the Mountain Majik that opened the scoring though, Pene Bonovas with a well taken finish in the 11th minute to make it 1-nil.
Konstantinidis had an opportunity to level proceedings just before the break but Jackson came up big again to keep it at one going into the break.
In a second half that was low on chances but high on drama, Jackson added to her highlight reel with another stunning save from Alyssa Schwereb.
Her acrobatics was rewarded as Bonovas broke forward and slotted home her second and secured the 13 Girls title for Mountain Majik Futsal Club.

Dural Warriors secured a dramatic 1-nil victory over a tough Inner West Magic side late in the 14 Boys Grand Final.
Jeremy Bradekji had the first chance in the contest after six minutes when he directed a shot right at the Inner West Magic keeper.
For the Magic, Sebastian Boffa was unable to sweep his effort into the cage after a well worked move to find him in space.
The best chance of the half fell to Dural Warriors Jamal Belkadi as he bustled past several defenders but couldn’t put his effort on target enough.
Dylan Craus fired the last salvo in the first half as he curved an effort wide. Both teams struggled get their rhythm going which left it at 0-0.
Most of the second half was played at the same intensity but neither side could fire past the custodians who were having a field day.
Eventually Dural Warriors found the only goal of the contest in the last minute when Cameron Veldhuizen pounced on an errant pass to slash home for 1-nil.

15 GIRLS
Inner West Magic won a thriller at Valentine Sports Park in the 15 Girls 2-1 thanks to an extra time goal from Emily Bastow.
In an end to end contest Mountain Majik Futsal Club went close as the ball rebounded across the area but didn’t trickle into the net.
Next Inner West custodian Amy Orphanides produced a desperate goal line save to keep the Majik out once again.
Emily Bastow created her own opportunity in the 16th minute as she turned well but couldn’t power her shot past Mountain Majik custodian Chloe Carmichael.
The Majik pounced just before the break to break the deadlock. Greta Kraszula fired home to reward their dominance in the first half.
Inner West weren’t behind for long as Tori Tumeth took a chance well three minutes after half-time to equalise at 1-1.
The equalizer spurred the Inner West Magic on as they had a prime pair of chances to wrest the lead away. She snatched at two chances which gave Carmichael enough time to recover and save.
All the momentum was with Inner West Magic as they poured forward at Carmichael but the custodian was a brick wall in the cage.
Mountain Majik had their own chance for late drama with a free-kick right at the siren but it was nodded over and sent us into extra time.
In the extra period – Bastow crashed an effort against the base of the post as the Majik counted their blessings it was still 1-1.
For an absorbing contest, it was awarded a fitting end. Bastow after a failed spot kick atoned as she slid home the winner deep into extra-time.
Inner West could’ve added another late on with Tumeth taking the second spot kick of the contest but she blasted it high but that was the furthest from her mind as the Inner West side produced a superb comeback to win the 15 Girls title.

Goals in each half has helped the Mascot Vipers to lift the 16 Boys title with a 2-nil victory over a stubborn South Coast Taipans this afternoon.
In a game between two tightly matched sides that traded victories across the season. It took a calamitous own goal to open the scoring.
Mascot worked the ball around trying to seek an opening and caught a deflection off a Taipan into the net.
Some credit for the game remaining 1-nil for so long must go to Mascot Vipers custodian Oskar Beck. He was quick to shut down any attacks from South Coast and produced some heroic saves.
For South Coast, they worked into their rhythm well but every time they tried to shoot there was Viper body blocking the way.
Beck flung himself around the court to maintain the Vipers lead as the South Coast side brought on the extra attacker as they surged forward more.
In the enthusiasm to retrieve the ball, South Coast racked up the fouls and soon were past the five limit. Kosta Tsournakakis stepped up and converted for a two-goal cushion.
Mascot were able to run out of the rest of the clock and once the buzzer went, crowned the champions of the 16 Boys 2-0.

17 GIRLS
Inner West Magic put in a professional performance to become 17 Girls champions over UTS Northside this afternoon at Valentine Sports Park.
UTS Northside had swept the season series between these two clubs and started the game off with that confidence. Holly Caspers with an early warning shot within 60 seconds.
She was followed by Josie Wilson who was denied twice at point blank range by Magic custodian Sophie Magus with two smothering saves.
The courageous effort from Magus lifted her side as they threaded through a few threatening deliveries but couldn’t find the final touch.
Once again Magus was called on to save the day as both Emma Watkins and Caspers barrelled down on her with attempts the custodian cut down their space and denied both in short space.
Ebony Mc Cue Shore had a rare foray forward for the Magic as she stepped inside a pass and tried to place a shot inside the cage but it remained 0-0.
Inner West Magic rewarded Magus for her brilliant effort between the cage as they found a goal with five minutes to go. Tori Tumeth found open space and finished with aplomb for a 1-ni scoreline.
Stung into action from conceding UTS Northside tried to carve out a chance to get back in the contest but Inner West remained tight in defense to deny any open shots.
Just before time the Magic sealed the 17 Girls title with a creative free-kick. Oliva Hardaker stepped up after it touched on to chip it past the disparing UTS keeper for an unassailable 2-nil lead.

YOUTH MEN
Liam Polinsky put in a heroic effort in goal for the Mountain Majik Futsal Club to inspire them onto a 2-nil victory in the Youth Men final in the Select Futsal Premier League.
The pattern for the first half was set in the first few minutes as Dural peppered the Majik cage with shots. Both Brandon Vella and Frank Sorbello unable to get the effort on target.
Both the woodwork and Liam Polinsky conspired to keep the Dural Warriors off the scoresheet. Sam De Oliveria rattled the post twice in a matter of seconds as they camped in the Majik half.
De Oliveria and Polinsky were locked in a battle across the whole forty minutes as the latter produced some Hollywood type saves to crush the Warriors spirit.
In a rare chance for the Majik in the first half, Marco Turpeinen was found with a cushioned through ball but he couldn’t wrap his foot around the ball.
Peter Xenos decided to get on the post rattling act as he crashed one against the steel in the 25th minute before Sorbello was denied once again by the Majik custodian.
Despite being on the back foot for most the contest, the Majik were the side to find the opener. Samuel Guliano found a pocket of space after some nice combination passing to sweep into the net for 1-nil.
Dural Warriors for all their attempts on goal now had to chase to the game and they decided to bring on the extra attacker with quite a reasonable amount of game to play. The strategy almost paid off immediately as Xenos nicked the post before it went out to the delight of the Majik side.
As the game stretched Justin Wilkin had a pair of chances to seal the game for the Mountain Majik. The first was pushed wide but at the second time of asking, he was able to slot the ball home for 2-nil.
The Majik started to pull out the party tricks as they ran out the clock. Adam Nisbet conspired to hit both posts with back to back shots as the Majik readied for an unlikely victory.
Dural had one final touch of agony as De Oliveria was awarded a free-kick just outside the circle but was charged down by Man of the Match Polinsky as the final act of the game.

Mascot Vipers put in a tough performance to run out 4-2 victors in the Select Futsal Premier League Open Womens competition tonight at Valentine Sports Park.
The game took some time to find it’s balance as both teams tried to be the first on the scoresheet. Rhianna Pollicina had her sixth minute effort saved same as Kristy Rohrer down the other end as the game opened.
Mascot Vipers were the first to trouble the scoreboard through captain Caitlin Campbell as she swept home to make it 1-nil.
Rohrer tried to make it two for the Vipers when she was found with a cushioned pass but she sliced it wide as the Mascot side started to take control of the game.
The chances came thick and fast for the leaders as Mariel Hecher crashed an effort against the post in the 12th minute then tested Magic custodian Gill Raymond again.
Inner West Magic carved out a few of their own chances through Ceyda Cambaz who sprayed a tough chance wide of the post before she embarked on a weaving run that deserved a better finish.
Vipers made it two shortly after the resumption. Rohrer got herself involved again as she was on the spot to stab a free-kick home.
Mascot dominated the regular season series between the two sides and looked on course for the same this afternoon. Hecher quickly added a third as the title looked to be headed to Mascot.
Pollicina continued to try and claw her team back into the contest with an acrobatic effort on 35 minutes but the Vipers were determined to cling onto the clean sheet.
Hecher completed her double for the Mascot Vipers as Inner West Magic were sinking without a trace as Mascot looked to be crowned champions.
Credit to the spirit of the Magic, they fought until the final whistle and got themselves a pair of consolation goals from Doris Osman and Pollicina to round out the 4-2 scoreline.

Inner West Magic produced a stunning comeback from two goals down to win 4-2 and be crowned Select Futsal Premier League Open Men champions in a great final to cap off the day.
Dural Warriors got themselves off to a fast start with a goal in the third minute of action. Bruno Pivato at a tight angle smashed home to make it 1-nil.
Pivato was once again central to the action as he crafted a creative free-kick with Greg Giovenali which almost crept into the net.
The intensity was high and so was the action, as the tackles and shots flew in fast from both teams. Dural started to put together their passes to stretch the Inner West Magic defense.
It was from a quick movement that created the second goal for the Warriors. The ball was swept from the right to left for Wade Giovenali to slot in the back of the net for 2-nil.
In a half to forget for the Magic mostly, they had one bright spot. Daniel Vellonio who was a constant threat throughout the half chipped an effort against the post and wide.
From the resulting throw, Dural quickly transitioned down the other end and Pivato tried an acrobatic chip that was inches from the net.
Dural held firm and saw out the half to take their 2-nil lead into the break with most possession and shots thus far.
The Magic came out of half-time firing and clawed one back two minutes into the second half. Daniel Fogarty finished a well constructed move to make it 2-1.
Soon they were back level as Chris Zeballos strode down the wing before he ripped a shot into the net to make 2-2 within five minutes of the restart.
They could have made it three when Daniel Fornito was presented a golden opportunity but couldn’t wrap his foot around the ball.
All the momentum was with the Magic now, as they spurned several chances – Fogarty had the best chance when he beared down on goal but couldn’t square past Alastair Bruce, the Warriors custodian.
Magic would hit the hit with ten minutes to play as Zeballos completed his brace and sent the orange part of the crowd in raptures at 3-2.
The Warriors tried to pull out all the tricks in the book to get themselves back into the contest but the Magic defense stood firm as custodian Angelo Kostantinou urged his side to push forward.
Forward they pushed as Fornito atoned for his earlier miss with the fourth goal for Magic that got the Magic chant started at Valentine Sports Park. As Dural had to commit men forward and pull their keeper – Fornito almost pulled off a stunning shot to make it five.
