JDL Futsal Cup Draws Growing Participation Across NSW
The Football NSW-hosted JDL Futsal Cup continued to build momentum in April, as junior development league (JDL) clubs embraced the fast-paced indoor format at Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope.
Designed to introduce futsal into the JDL pathway, the tournament reflects Football NSW’s broader push to diversify development opportunities for young players.
By incorporating futsal into its programming, the organisation is aiming to sharpen technical skills, decision-making, and creativity among emerging footballers.
The April edition saw a noticeable rise in participation, with more clubs stepping into the futsal space.
Football NSW noted strong engagement and growing enthusiasm from both returning and first-time participants, highlighting a clear appetite for expanded futsal offerings in the future.
“It was great to see this tournament grow in participation and seeing more JDL football clubs getting involved in futsal,” said Football NSW’s Futsal Manager Jordan Guerreiro.
“The response has been awesome and reinforces what we are trying to achieve—creating more opportunities for young footballers to experience futsal.”
That enthusiasm is already translating into momentum, with a number of new clubs registering interest in upcoming events and expressing eagerness to be part of future futsal initiatives.
