A recent Level 4 Referees Course at Far South Coast has indicated the increased interest in becoming an official as a record turnout took part with 22 new recruits signed for the new grassroots football season kicking off in April and concluding in November.

All twenty-two records took part in the course with Far South Coast Referees Association boss Ray Hale delighted with the attendance.

“This year, Far South Coast Country Referees has had a very good turnout for its Level 4 referees course, we received 22 recruits for an association that normally runs with 35 members and an attrition rate of 10 each year this is certainly exciting for the game.

“When asked what was the key motivator in becoming a referee, some said having a better understanding of the laws to make playing safer, a longer season with other competitions to officiate in and getting paid to do something they enjoyed.”
