On Tuesday 11 April 2017, the football community in NSW lost one of its great achievers.

Jason 46, still playing for St Mary’s Band Club, passed away after playing in a Nepean Cup Game on Wednesday night.

Jason had a great career primarily at Blacktown City and Wollongong Wolves in the NSL.

Jason was born 11/11 1970 and commenced his elite career with Blacktown City at age 16.

He progressed through the grades making his debut in the NSL Cup game against South Melbourne in 1990.

Jason played 212 matches and scored 21 goals and spent 12 seasons with Blacktown City.

He moved to the Wollongong Wolves in 1996-97 and played 40 games for them in the NSL before returning to Blacktown City in 2000.

Jason, known as the “big man” to many of his peers, was much loved by all that knew him or were lucky to have played with or against him.

A talented defender who was very good in the air will be sadly missed by the entire Football community in NSW.

Football NSW would like to pass on its deepest condolences to the Connolly family, may he rest in heavenly peace.

Vale: the BIG MAN.
