Round 3 Preview – PS4 NPL 2 NSW Women’s
The season is starting to get into a rhythm as four exciting match-ups are on the menu for this weekend which includes our Match of the Round: Sydney Olympic vs Nepean FC.
Bankstown City Lions vs Marconi Stallions, Sunday 30th April, 3pm, Jensen Park
Fresh from picking up their first point of the season, Bankstown City Lions head home to Jensen Park to face Marconi Stallions.
Marconi got their first win in a tense 1-nil victory over Nepean FC in the west thanks to a Kalinda Wills goal.
The Stallions will hope to get a few players back for a stern test against a Lions attack that were wasteful in front of goal against the Mariners.
Joanna Martino had a brace last weekend for the Lions which sets this contest up to be a mouth-watering contest on Sunday afternoon.
Gladesville Ravens vs Southern Branch FC, Sunday 30th April, 3pm, Peel Park
Gladesville Ravens aim to get their season on track with their first home game of the season against Southern Branch FC.
The Ravens put up a game effort in a losing effort against Inter while Southern Branch lost 4-1 to a firing Sydney Olympic.
Some impressive work from Jemima Davison included a goal but her energy from the bench is something for Southern Branch to watch out for.
For the visitors – Paris Ford is one to watch with her goal last week as both teams look to get off their duck egg for the season.
Sydney Olympic FC vs Nepean FC, Sunday 30th April, 3pm, Peter Moore Field – Match of the Round
The Match of the Round heads to Peter Moore Field this weekend, as Sydney Olympic host Nepean FC on Sunday afternoon.
A Rampant Sydney Olympic had four different goalscorers last weekend while Nepean FC were narrow losers against Marconi.
New signing Lily Chen was one of those scorers and the young gun will look further her tally with her fellow forwards this weekend.
Nepean FC’s stoic defense will get a stern test against the strike force of Sydney Olympic in what is shaping up to be the integral match up of the contest.
Further up field Britney Pelle for Nepean FC will give the Olympic defense some headaches of their own as the match of round should be an open contest.
Central Coast Mariners vs Sutherland Shire FA, Sunday 30th April, 3pm, Pluim Park
Mariners look to build on their late point against Bankstown City Lions as Sutherland Shire head up the F1 to face them Sunday afternoon.
New recruits Candice Phelan and Georgia Davis both got their first goals for the Mariners in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Bankstown City Lions.
Sutherland Shire were off last weekend but had late drama of their own in a 3-1 victory over Gladesville Ravens a fortnight ago.
This sets up an open and attacking contest as both sides look to build upon their positive start to the NPL 2 NSW Women’s season.
