Andrew buzzing at Blacktown City

After searching for the right fit throughout the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition, speedster James Andrew has found a home with Blacktown City Football Club.

A former product of newly crowned Hyundai A-League Champions, Sydney FC’s youth set up, Andrew spent time playing for cross town rivals, Sydney Olympic Football Club and Sutherland Sharks Football Club.

“After my time with Sydney FC, I moved onto Sydney Olympic.

“Unfortunately things didn’t work out as planned at the halfway point of the season so I moved onto the Sutherland Sharks.

“I spent the remainder of the year and the following before deciding to move.”

Following three months’ worth of trials in Europe, Andrew headed home where he generated interest from a number of clubs throughout the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competiton.

However it was a call from well-respected Blacktown City Football Club head coach, Mark Crittenden that saw Andrew commit to one of the competitions most successful clubs.

“I had received some interest elsewhere but when Blacktown City called, I knew there was no other choice.

“Outside of the Hyundai A-League they are arguably the biggest and best nationwide.

“I knew it would be the best move for me and I’m really happy with how it’s been going.”

And after netting five goals in nine rounds, it’s safe to say Andrew’s move to Lily’s Football Centre has been the right call.

In a highly competitive environment, Andrew is certainly relishing in the opportunity and his great run of form as late.

“Over the years I’ve always been a goal scorer.

“I’ve managed to score goals and plenty of them in a season which made it really hard last year when I didn’t score at all for the Sutherland Sharks.

“In the offseason and at training, I’ve been working hard, and I’m glad it’s paying off on the pitch.

“Along with that, the coaching staff have been great in helping me develop into a senior player on a mental level.”

Andrew’s great start to the year is one of the many reasons why Blacktown City remain undefeated however they have been doing it in a fashion unlike any other side in the competition.

Due to the resurgence of clubs such as APIA Leichhardt Tigers, Sydney United 58, Sydney Olympic FC and Rockdale City Suns FC so far this season, Blacktown City have managed to fly under the radar whilst being by far the most in form teams to date – with Andrew believing the club’s close knit fit is one of the major reasons why they’ve hit the ground running in the 2017 season.

“After joining in the preseason I was well aware that the club had lost a few players such as Travis Major, but we haven’t allowed any loss of teammates to affect us.

“We have started off the season undefeated and enjoy the fact that we were ridden off prior to round one.

“We definitely have a squad that can get us over the line each week, especially when it comes to the business end of the season.

“I’m confident we will be there.”

Blacktown City face a cracking tie against the APIA Leichhardt Tigers this Sunday at Lambert Park with kick off set for 4:45pm, a match not to be missed by any football fan wanting to watch some great state league football action.
