Round 8 of the Women’s State League again provides some exciting and interesting fixtures to look forward to.

The in-form UNSW welcome Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC while SD Raiders play host to St George FC and APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC play host to the Western NSW Mariners FC in the late kick off on Sunday.

UNSW vs Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC, Sunday May 28th3pm, David Phillips Complex

The in-form UNSW play host to Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC as they look to continue their recent string of positive results.

UNSW will be full of confidence after a hard-fought win away at Western Mariners last weekend and will be eyeing off another three points this weekend.

Mt Druitt on the other hand will be looking to bounce back from two successive defeats including a rescheduled round 1 clash against UNSW where they were defeated 3-1 mid-week.

UNSW coach Renato Jelen will be conscious of maintaining the momentum his team has been able to gather over the last few weeks which sees them sitting third and the importance of picking up three points at home.

Mt Druitt though will provide a stern test and will be keen to bounce back after a couple of disappointing results.

SD Raiders FC vs St George FC, Sunday May 28th 3pm, Ernie Smith Reserve

SD Raiders FC will be looking to bounce back after their surprising draw against bottom placed Parramatta FC last round. Raiders inability to finish their chances against Parramatta cost them three points and they will be looking to rectify this against a St George FC team which itself is coming off a disappointing loss against APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC.

Raiders coach Catherine Cannuli will be wary of the importance of bouncing back in a positive manner at home as they look to maintain the pace alongside APIA at the top of the table. Carlo Tini admitted his team was outplayed by APIA in every department and will be looking for a more resolute and competitive performance from his St George team.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC vs Western NSW Mariners FC, Sunday May 28th 5pm, Lambert Park

In the late-kick off top of the table APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC welcome Western NSW Mariners FC to Lambert Park.

APIA will be looking to continue their free scoring ways after completely overwhelming St George last round to run out 7-0 winners.

The Mariners on the other hand had one of their most disappointing performances last outing in their defeat to UNSW as coach Jason Payne described it as the flattest performance of the season from his team.

Western Mariners will be conscious of the challenge facing them and will be aware they must bring a greater energy to the game if they are going to compete against the defending premiers.

Matteo Maiorana seems to have his APIA team clicking into gear and will be wanting to continue the form they have showed over the last few weeks so as to maintain their position at the head of the table.
