Round 12 Preview – State League Women’s

Round 12 of the Women’s State League yet again sees some interesting clashes and key games as teams look to push for a top 4 berth.

SD Raiders FC host Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC while Parramatta FC host the UNSW and St George FC welcome Western NSW Mariners FC.

SD Raiders FC vs Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC, Sunday 25th June 3pm, Ernie Smith Reserve

SD Raiders FC welcome Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC as both clubs look to bounce back from disappointing losses last round. Only four points separates both these teams as Mt Druitt sit just outside the top four while SD Raiders are sitting third. This game though is huge for both club as three points is crucial for both in regards to a top four finish.

Mt Druitt coach Danny Abboud will be looking for a positive reaction from his team after a lackluster showing last week against St George. Raiders coach Catherine Cannuli will also be seeking a return to the winners circle after a topsy-turvey loss to top of the table APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC where they surrendered a two goal lead.

This game promises to be an exciting and fiercely contested match up as both teams will be desperate for the three points.

Parramatta FC vs University of NSW, Sunday 25th June 3pm, Melita Stadium

Parramatta FC host UNSW as they look to recover from a 16-0 loss last week away to Western NSW Mariners FC. UNSW on the other hand will look to continue their recent good form as they look to consolidate their position in the top 4. UNSW will see this game as a golden opportunity to grab all three points but will aware they do not want to get dragged into a battle and scrap.

UNSW find themselves only four points off second and will want to continue to win so as to continue their ascend up the table. Parramatta on the other hand will be looking to just compete for 90 minutes and will be hopeful they may be able to at least grab their second point of the season.

St George FC vs Western NSW Mariners FC, Sunday 25th June 3pm, St George Stadium

In what shapes as possibly the game of the round St George FC welcome 2nd placed Western NSW Mariners FC. The teams are both coming off confident boosting wins in Round 11 and will come into this contest high on confidence. The Mariners gave quietly been going about their work and find themselves sitting in second place. St George find themselves just outside the top four but know three points against the Mariners could place them in the top four.

The game promises goals and exciting free flowing football as both teams enjoy going  forward and creating  chances. The Mariners coach Jason Payne will know St George will provide a difficult test for his team but will be confident his team can overcome this and take the three points from the fixture. St George coach Carlo Tini will be hoping his team continue on from last weeks impressive win over Mt Druitt and continue their top four push.
