Kajiyama and Nikas claim Golden Boot award

With the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s season all but over for another season, 2017 proved to be a nail-biting year for the coveted Golden Boot award.

In what was a race to the finish line after 22 rounds, Sutherland Sharks’ Japanese import Tomohiro Kajiyama and Sydney United 58’s Panagiotis Nikas were both crowned Golden Boot award winners with both players hitting the back of the net 13 times in 2017.

Kajiyama was the shining light in what was a tough season for the hapless Sharks.

Finishing in tenth spot, Kajiyama scored 13 out of the Sharks’ 29 goals, an amazing stat for the prolific marksman that wowed the competition with his speed, agility and dazzling skills.

Nikas, no stranger to winning awards, was once again top of the pops for United 58 and although the club missed out on a coveted NPL Finals Series berth, the confident attacking midfielder was lethal for the Reds especially from the dead ball – two of which were scored from the half-way line.

Congratulations to both who will be honoured with the Golden Boot award respectively at this Friday’s Gold Medal Dinner.
