Football NSW’s Summer Football competition has well and truly kicked off in a huge way for 2017 as clubs and associations have commenced their leagues for the new season.

Football NSW Development Officer Lauren Moore recently visited three Summer Football venues with the Nepean Football Association, Kellyville Kolts and Glenhaven Football Club all showing its true colours with healthy numbers and happy faces at their respective matches.

All three venues had age groups spanning from the U8’s right through to the over 45’s where participants were playing their beloved sport with their mates on a weeknight.

Kellyville Kolts representative Bob Harrold was delighted with how Summer Football has kicked off with his venue being at capacity.

“Everyone seems to be having a great time and is loving the Summer Football concept; next year will be even bigger and better with the finishing of our new synthetic fields.

“It’s fantastic to note that we are completely full and have stopped our marketing due to the amazing response we have received from our participants.

“It’s pleasing to see that we have different clubs playing in our competitions with even the likes of academy and SAP participants taking part.”

Glenhaven FC’s Terry Hoyle was equally as impressed with the impressive turn out his venue has seen.

“Participants view Summer Football as a good social get together with mates and having a kick around, and this has been evident thus far.

“We are looking towards expanding our competition to later in the year and 2018 if we can get council approval for the fields out at Glenhaven Oval.

“We are also encouraging female competitions too.

“We are finally excited to be running ALDI MiniRoos in October for eight weeks so that will be great and our main objective is to get a synthetic field at Glenhaven Oval to ensure our participants are enjoying their Summer Football experience.”
