Football NSW launches NPL 2018 season

The National Premier Leagues NSW 2018 Season was launched by Football NSW at Ultra Football in Alexandria on Saturday where media and representatives from the NPL community attended.

A cocktail function for 120 guests with Master of Ceremonies and Fox Sports’ very own Adam Peacock took control of proceedings which also included representatives from all Football NSW National Premier League Clubs, FFA Directors Simon Hepworth and Daniel Moulis, Football NSW Board Members, Major Sponsors as well as Ron Hoenig – Member for Heffron and Dr Hugh McDermott – Member for Prospect.

A player’s panel representing all five competitions took shape as Manly United skipper Jamie Lobb (NPL NSW Men’s), Football NSW Institute captain Jada Whyman (NPL NSW Women’s), Rydalmere FC Lions skipper Ahmad Elrich (NPL NSW Men’s 2), Bankstown City FC’s Nikola Todoroski (NPL NSW Men’s 3) and Sydney Olympic FC’s Madeline Costanzo (NPL NSW Women’s 2) all promoted the key role the NPL has played with the continual development of the world game in NSW.

Football NSW Chief Executive Officer Stuart Hodge stated that the event accomplished its intention in celebrating the launch of all National Premier Leagues NSW competitions.

“I’m thrilled to be able to enjoy the launch of this season with so many of those that champion this competition. The NPL in New South Wales is a very important part of the football landscape and player pathway in Australia and I know it will continue to strengthen with what will be a solid 2018 football season for all involved.

“Season launches are wonderful occasions to come together socially and catch up with old friends, and even adversaries, but in football terms they are a time for optimism, for positivity, for anticipation, for expectation and hopefulness for the coming season.

“I would like to wish all the clubs the best of luck and we look forward to seeing another NSW club being honoured as the National Premier League Champions following in the footsteps of previous winners Sydney United 58 FC (2013, 2016) and Blacktown City FC (2015).”

The National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s commences on Saturday the 10th of March with three matches planned as the 2017 Grand Final replay takes centre stage with Manly United facing APIA Leichhardt Tigers, newly promoted Marconi Stallions will be up for a huge match when they entertain neighbours Sydney United 58 while Sydney FC battle Hakoah Sydney City East. Three matches will follow on Sunday to conclude Round 1 with Sydney Olympic v Bonnyrigg White Eagles, Wollongong Wolves v Blacktown City and Rockdale City Suns take on Sutherland Sharks to end the opening round.

The National Premier Leagues 2 NSW Men’s competition kicks off this Sunday the 4th of March while the National Premier Leagues Women’s (Sunday 11th March), Women’s 2 (Sunday 11th March), and Men’s 3 (Saturday 10th March) conclude the NPL competition openers in NSW.
