2018 Nations of Origin

On Tuesday 17th of July the Nations of Origin Football 5’s kicked off at Lake Macquarie Football Facility, home of Northern NSW, with 8 different nations participating in both the girls and boys competitions. 

The 2018 Nations of Origins Championship is a program run by PCYC (Police Citizens Youth Club) since 2012 and has since grown into one of the largest events for Aboriginal Youths in NSW.

The event which culminates during NAIDOC Week uses Sport to address areas such as education, reconciliation, cultural identity and increasing school attendance.

This year the football tournament for indigenous and Torres strait islander and non- indigenous players had 25 teams participate 

Football NSW’s Member Services Manager Matt Rippon and Game Development Officer Charlotte Ercil both attended the annual event, and were thoroughly enjoyed festivities of the day

“This annual tournament is a great display of Indigenous culture which uses football as the vehicle to achieve the tournaments desired goals. The facilities were also perfectly suited for such a great event”
