It is a fatal four-way at the top of the SELECT Futsal Premier League 2 Open Womens competition, and with Boomerangs FS and Sydney City Eagles taking on each other, alongside a local derby, South Coast traveling to the west and Phoenix Futsal hungry to avenge their loss, we have a fantastic weekend of futsal to enjoy.

Match of the Round: SD Raiders vs Raiders Futsal Club, Saturday 20 October, 3:20pm, Fairfield Youth & Leisure Centre

Fifth takes on sixth, as SD Raiders host the first annual Raiders Cup contest against neighbours Raiders Futsal Club, raising funds for 90 minutes for Cancer, Saturday afternoon in Fairfield.

Raiders Futsal finally had lift off last week, rattling home seven goals in a comprehensive victory against West City Crusaders. For SD Raiders, they had a disappointing loss, losing 6-2 to Sydney City Eagles in the first of their homestand.

The Raiders attack clicked into gear. Cassidy Chidgey and Sophia Hamilton both scored braces in their victory, alongside the threat of Jessica Fallah, Nicole Ossio and Emma Voloder means this contest will have goals.

For SD Raiders, after their opening day victory they will be disappointed in their return following it. Led by the experienced Catherine Cannuli, they’ve shown flashes of slick futsal and if Vesna Milivojevic can fire alongside Cannuli, they could take bragging rights after this contest.

West City Crusaders vs South Coast Taipans, Saturday 20 October, 4:50pm, Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium

South Coast Taipans sit top of SELECT Futsal Premier League 2, now they travel west to Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium to face last-placed West City Crusaders Saturday evening.

The Taipans were on a scoring rampage last weekend, putting eight past the previously undefeated Phoenix Futsal side. It was a tough evening for the Crusaders as well, they conceded seven against Raiders Futsal club.

West City Crusaders have shown in their Round 2 draw with SD Raiders, they can go toe-to-toe with the heavyweights of the SELECT Futsal Premier League 2. The dual threat of Hollie Wilson and Stefanie Trovato can cause plenty of problems, against the Taipans defense.

For the visitors, they have shared the goalscoring form around. Danielle Wise leads the way for them though, with five goals, as the prolific Taipans look to pile on the pain for the eighth placed Crusaders and put some space between them and the chasing pack.

Boomerangs FS vs Sydney City Eagles, Saturday 20 October, 5:20pm, AIS Training Halls

Second takes on third, as Boomerangs have their first game in Canberra, facing Sydney City Eagles at the AIS Training Halls with both sides sitting on six points.

This contest is set for a blockbuster, as both sides come into it with huge victories. Boomerangs dominated Sydney Futsal Club, 6-1, meanwhile the Eagles hit SD Raiders for six, in their 6-2 triumph last weekend.

After their disjointed start to the campaign, Boomerangs have found their groove, and the goals have started to flow. Against Sydney Futsal, they opened them up on several occasions and the goalscoring form of Olivia Gurney is key to a hot start at home.

The Eagles welcomed back Jess Beale, the attacker paid them back with interest with four goals in two starts. Her combination with Melina Manna, Abigail Thompson and Tameeka Thomson makes for a mouth-watering contest.

Phoenix Futsal Club vs Sydney Futsal Club, Saturday 20 October, 6:40pm, Hornsby PCYC

Fresh from losing their 100% record, Phoenix Futsal Club host a downbeat Sydney Futsal Club to round off another weekend of SELECT Futsal Premier League 2 action at Hornsby PCYC.

Two heavy losses for both teams headed into this contest, Phoenix Futsal rejoined the four-team dogfight after their 8-2 loss to South Coast Taipans while Sydney Futsal Club never got started in their 6-1 loss to Boomerangs.

While Sydney Futsal were defeated on the scoreboard, they had some bright spots with the budding connection between Hannah-Rose Davey and Madeleine Mirkovic, as the two provided much of the side’s attacking threat and will do the same this weekend.

Stung by their loss, Phoenix will be keen to get back on the right foot. They have the attack as shown in their opening two victories, where they scored five in each. Top scorer Hannah Mcnulty should have a happier time this weekend against the seventh placed side.
