SELECT Futsal Premier League round 6 Open Women’s Saturday matches has Mountain Majik against UTS Northside at Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium (3.10pm), Inner West Magic meet Eastern Suburbs Hakoah at Valentine Sports Park (5.20pm), Dural Warriors face Campbelltown Quake at The Centre Dural (5.50pm), and Mascot Vipers host Enfield Allstars at All Sorts Indoor Sports Centre (7.50pm).
Magic and Majik top the pops with 13 points and UTS (12) right on their doorstep, followed by Campbelltown (7), Easts (6), Dural (4), Mascot (2) and Enfield (0).
Mountain Majik UTS Northside
What a great match to start the round as top-three Mountain Majik and UTS Northside go head-to-head at Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Unbeaten Mountaineers have maintained a share of top spot with Inner West but the Northerners have stayed hot on their heels thanks to a red-hot four-match winning-streak and will leapfrog Majik if they repeat their 2-1 Futsal Cup victory over them just last week at nearby Valentine Sports Park.
But 22 goals scored in five outings says Mountain will have their own say on the matter, even though UTS boast the league’s second best defence (leaking just seven goals so far, half Majik’s 14).
Inner West Magic Eastern Suburbs
Inner West Magic meet Eastern Suburbs Hakoah for the first time, playing at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday evening.
The sides have been separated by a division for the past 11 years and this match offers an exciting look to the future as Easts establish themselves in the club championship top-four.
Perhaps the biggest battle will be at the end where Hakoah’s smashed 19 goals in the first five games (10 from Tamires Souza alone), while an unshakable Magic defence has conceded just three.
Eyes will also be on Inner West star Ceyda Cambaz who’s nailed a goal in each of her last five runs.
Dural Warriors Campbelltown Quake
A rejuvenated Campbelltown Quake are ready to rattle The Centre Dural on Saturday night and crack Dural Warriors while they’re down.
The only side to feature in the last six playoff series, Dural are currently sixth on the ladder with one win to their name (they were equal-first with Magic at this stage last season). More remarkable is a scrappy four goals to show for their efforts.
Warriors face a Quake team showing plenty of early promise, as fourth-placed Campbelltown look to diminish the gap to the top-three.
Mascot Vipers Enfield Allstars
It’s a foot-of-the-table clash when Mascot Vipers host Enfield Allstars at All Sorts Indoor Sports Centre on Saturday night.
It’s been tough going for both teams who haven’t fashioned a win between them in their combined opening 10 matches, conceding a total of 38 goals together, and another draw would hardly help either side’s progress.
But freestyle Futsal is typical for this derby, so any sort of result is possible.
