Let’s get onto the review.

Match of the Round: Raiders Futsal Club 11 defeated Sydney Futsal Club 0

Raiders Futsal Club kept the pressure up on the competition leaders, as they crushed Sydney Futsal Club 11-nil for their fourth victory of the season, Saturday afternoon at Thomas Hassell Anglican College.

The hosts were rampant from the opening minute, they cruised to an 8-nil lead at half-time before they added three more after the break, to complete the thrashing. Hannah Voloder netted four goals on a profitable afternoon while Cassidy Chidgey bagged a hat-trick and Mia Conners a double. Sophia Hamilton and Amanda Lauric rattled home goals each on a comfortable afternoon.

From the opening whistle, Raiders Futsal pressured their opponents and had a shot within the opening 120 seconds of the contest. Their first goal followed quickly, as Mia Conners touched home a direct pass from Cassidy Chidgey for 1-nil.

Raiders turned on the style for their second goal, three quick, incisive passing movements opened up the Sydney Futsal Club defense, the finish was provided by Chidgey, slotted home, making it 2-nil after six minutes.

The second goal woke up Sydney, as they fired their first salvos. Rochelle Johnson clipped an effort over the bar, quickly followed by Amelia Rader set up for Ramona Spicer to snap an effort wide of the post.

Sensing their chance back into the contest, this was Sydney’s best sustained pressure of the contest. Hannah-Rose Davey played the pivot role, directed play and smacked an effort against the crossbar herself.

Their wastefulness allowed Raiders Futsal to give them a lesson in finishing. Chidgey broke free, scooped an effort wide but the striker didn’t miss with her second chance, steered home in the 15th minute, to make it 3-nil.

Her goal started an avalanche of goals for the Raiders headed into half-time. Sophia Hamilton picked up an effort in the 17th before Hannah Voloder went on a tear, the striker netted three times before the break, her best effort came when she fired home despite the attentions of a pair of Sydney defenders.

Conners finished off the onslaught right on half-time, a quick one-two put her right on goal, and with her confidence flowing, Conners nailed the effort, so it was 8-nil, and a healthy lead for Raiders Futsal headed into the break.

Sydney looked to reduce the deficit right after the break, Johnson thrashed an effort right at Stephanie Taylor, the Raiders keeper. Davey followed that effort up with a breakaway that she squared to Kim Cozens, the latter couldn’t steer home.

Chidgey completed her hat-trick in the 33rd minute, deflecting home from a wonderful free-kick that Ashleigh Krenich arrowed in her direction, 9-nil and Raiders Futsal weren’t slowing down on their league leading attack.

The visitors kept pushing, looking to get some consolation on the scoreboard. Rader, Tanya Marjanovic and Davey all had chances to find the back of the net, but some inspired keeping from the Raiders kept them blank on the scoresheet.

Raiders Futsal added two late strikes to round off their afternoon’s work. Amanda Lauric was on the spot to turn home, after Alyssa Marco’s initial effort was blocked. Lauric’s second of the season, made it a perfect 10-nil for the home side.

Voloder finished off the game with her fourth goal of the afternoon. She teed up a team-mate for the shot which was blocked then showed her poacher’s instinct to make it 11-nil, a thorough performance from Raiders Futsal.

Afterwards Raiders Futsal Club coach Bernard Voloder was delighted with the connection that has developed through his side, and the fact they were ruthless with their goals Saturday.

“This is a team that has developed over the last few years, last year we lacked a few strikers. I got that from the under 18s last year, and we have developed that. The girls are close, happy, moving off the ball and scoring goals.” he said.

“I think that is what we are working on. In tight games, you need that, so we know we can attack and now, we’ve added the defense which is pleasing.” finished Voloder.
