We have a pair of fantastic semi-finals to kick off the final weekend of the SELECT Futsal Premier League 2 season to see which of the four sides left can grab the ultimate glory and become the Champions on Sunday evening.

Semi Final 1: Boomerangs FS vs South Coast Taipans, Saturday 4:00pm, The Centre – Dural, Court 1

Boomerangs FS were the dominant force in the SELECT Futsal Premier League 2 this season, now they look to book their place in the Grand Final as they take on South Coast Taipans on Saturday afternoon in Dural.

In what was an all-conquering season, South Coast Taipans delivered the only loss of Boomerangs FS season, back in Round 2, 3-1 down at UOW Sports Hub. The ‘Rangs got their revenge in a 4-3 thriller later in the season.

The outfit from the nation’s capital swept all before them this season, they racked up an impressive tally of 79 goals whilst only conceding 18 themselves in 14 contests. A feature of their play was the shared nature of the scoring – Grace Basser Silk led topped with 10 goals but had a flurry of team-mates within range to show they can attack from anywhere on the court.

South Coast are the quiet achievers of the Open Womens competition. They amassed seven victories across the season, including triumphs over both Boomerangs and Phoenix FC alongside a late loss to Raiders FC has them right in the thick of the challenge. The twin threat of Danika Matos and Danielle Wise is the scoring threat to watch for the Taipans.

Semi Final 2: Raiders Football Club vs Phoenix Futsal Club, Saturday 4:00pm, The Centre – Dural, Court 2

The second of our semi-finals sees Raiders FC and Phoenix FC clash to see who will complete the Grand Final match-up in an entertaining contest to play out at The Centre – Dural on Saturday afternoon.

These two sides finished second and third in the ladder, and they played out one of the contests of the season, a 3-3 draw back in Round 9. Phoenix FC roared out to a 3-nil lead before a second half surge saw the two sides share the points. Let’s hope for a similar game on Saturday.

Raiders FC went toe to toe with Premiers Boomerangs FS for much of the season, before falling off late in the season. They amassed an impressive ten victories for the season, with a blockbuster 74 goals scored. They are a squad built on togetherness and spirit with a varied attack led by top scorer Cassidy Chidgey as they launch a charge on the finals series.

Their opponents Phoenix FC got themselves eight wins this season, including a run near the end of the season where they picked up four victories out of five fixtures. Hannah Mcnulty is their main figurehead, with 21 scores across the season with Isabel Gomez their next best with 11. With all the attacking threat across the court, we’re set for a wonderful exhibition of futsal to decide the Grand Finalists.
