Skill Acquisition Program

During 2018, the Board of Football NSW requested that the Associations Standing Committee (ASC) make recommendations on the future of the Skill Acquisition Program (SAP). In support of this, a SAP Review Working Group (SRWG) was established comprising representatives from a number of FNSW Associations, NPL Clubs, Technical Directors, Football NSW and Football Federation Australia.

Following its deliberations, the SRWG submitted a suite of recommendations to the ASC which were unanimously passed and subsequently presented to the Board for its consideration. In accordance with recommendations of the SRWG, the Board formally resolved that Football NSW would continue to administer SAP in 2020.

Football NSW looks forward to collaborating further with the SRWG, Clubs and Associations during 2019 to continue to review the SAP structure, criteria and compliance, with the overall aim of improving capability within each program.

In addition, Football NSW remains committed to working with the Associations Standing Committee to assist Associations to improve/implement SAP-based programs at clubs within their competitions. It is essential that as many players as possible across our membership have the ability to develop according to the SAP principles.
