Holroyd Rangers SC hyping ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off for Girls program

Granville and Districts Soccer Football Association side Holroyd Rangers Soccer Club are providing girls with new opportunities to learn football with their friends through the ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off For Girls.

This is the first year that Holroyd Rangers SC has run the program and it’s been a great success.

Holroyd Rangers SC’s Linda Falgiatori was appreciative of what the program offered the girls within the club.

“I am a mum of a daughter who struggled playing mixed football who had a poor experience playing against boys.

“She has been playing girls only for the past couple of years and now enjoys football.

“I have also observed over the past few years little girls in various junior teams who have struggled to keep up with boys or not enjoying the game so want to give girls training sessions with other girls where they can share the fun of learning about the game with other girls.”

The club currently has 10 girls registered, five four years old and five girls aged between 7 and 9.

All the girls received their ALDI MiniRoos Participant Pack which included a bag, ball, water bottle, shin pads and stickers of their favourite W-League team!

They now bring all their new equipment to their training sessions every week!

Sessions start off with a warm up and some light fun activities as whole group before splitting into the younger and older groups to work on some age appropriate skill introduction training and finally finish with a fun match.

Falgiatori further added.

“We have noticed the girls improvement in skills and also their friendships and team spirit development which is great to see.

“The outlook from these sessions is to work with the girls to grow the amount of players and create teams for them for next year with week night training.

“It would be great if we could try to develop a 6-7yr girls only teams to play against each other but we would need a lot more girls involved to create a girls only competition.”

The Holroyd Rangers ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off For Girls program will be running until Saturday 3rd August so there is still time to register and get involved.
