The 2019 Nations of Origin took centre stage at Northern NSW’s Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility on Wednesday 17th July as twenty-four Under 14 teams (12 male and 12 female) from ten nations across NSW took part in what was a memorable tournament experienced by all.

Nations of Origin tournament has been designed to promote reconciliation within communities and engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non- Aboriginal members in PCYC through the games of Rugby League 7’s, Football 5’s, Basketball and Netball. It also works off four main components namely Reconciliation, Education, Cultural Identity and Sport.

The tournament empowers and motivates youth to celebrate Australia’s diverse indigenous culture and its deep impact on our history and their stories.

This year there were a number of lucky nationals that participated in the Football 5’s component with Anaiwan, Awabakal, Biripi, Bundjalong North, Darkinjung, Dharawal, Tharawal, Wiradjuri, Wiradjuri East, Wiradjuri Gugaas, Wiradjuri Mawang Gaway, Wonnarua and Worimi nations taking part.

Congratulations to the Awabakal Red (Boys) and Awabakal Black (Girls) teams who took out the Premiership plaudits on the day while the Awabakal White (Boys) and Dharawal (Girls) won the Cup competitions respectively.
