Kirrawee Become Back to Back Bill Cullinan Cup Champions
Kirrawee Kangaroos and Randwick City FC have played out a thriller at Valentine Sports Park. Yet it was Kirrawee Kangaroos who prevailed and took away the Bill Cullinan Cup courtesy of goals to Josiah Sherwen, Andrew Hajittofi, Jason Skylas and Matthew Hall.
Randwick City were the fast starters in the contest, controlling the game in terms of field position and possession. Yet they just couldn’t seem to break through a structured defense.
Instead it was the Kirrawee Kangaroos to open the scoring. The team from Sydney’s south won a penalty when Tyler Cawston was brought down from behind. Josiah Sherwen stepped up rolling it into the bottom corner.
It took awhile but the lead was doubled just before the 70th minute mark. Andrew Hajittofi was on the spot as the ball trickled across goal. He finished in a composed manner.
Two became three shortly after when Jason Skylas found the bottom corner with his attempt a few minutes later.
That only sparked a reaction from Randwick City. Despite having chances throughout, Sean O’Loughlin broke down the left and found Jordan Penty at the back post who tucked home his finish.
The momentum was on their side and it was well n truly game on when Sean Fortune finished with an acrobatic finish.
It gave Kirrawee Kangaroos the chance to show their steel late on as they shut up shop and scored scored on the counter at the other end with Matthew Hall finishing off sending the Kangaroos hopping joyously.
