As the weather starts to get warmer and the action will heat up as the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Womens competition kicks off on September 22nd.

All eight sides are primed and ready to get back underway for another wonderful year of futsal.

The Premiership was a battle in two between the now promoted Boomerangs FS and Raiders Futsal Club. It was the latter that appeared on Grand Final day, losing a heartbreaker to South Coast Taipans 3-2 deep in extra-time. 2019 will hopefully be another fantastic season that should see the competition go up another level in a wonderful year for women’s sport.

Raiders Futsal Club chased Boomerangs FS gamely last season but finished eight points behind them in the Premiership. Raiders Futsal Club were a goal machine piling in 74 goals last season and now, there is clear air for them to possibly take the mantle as top dog in the division.

Champions South Coast Taipans were a clear step behind the top two but have kept the core of the side which guided them to fourth last season. Danika Matos who brought the house down with her winner in the Grand Final alongside Elise Battin to guide their side to success again this year in the absence of Danielle Wise with Bobby Mazevski at the helm again.

Next in the pecking order was Phoenix Futsal Club. Third was a terrific achievement for the side who have built a good core for their side and now, look to push on with the top four wide open for someone to compete with Raiders Futsal Club and avenge their semi-final exit last season.

For SD Raiders Futsal, they finished just outside the finals but there is enough in their squad to improve for the 2019 season. Goal plunderer Vesna Milivojevic returns to spearhead the attack again alongside Catherine Cannuli and Vic Guzman which should have them right in the mix at the pointy end of the season.

Sydney City Eagles had their moments of joy in what was a forgettable 2018-19. They have retained much of their core for the new season, ready to soar hopefully to greater heights in a competition which below the top tier could be an interesting battle to observe over the next few months.

Wins were few and far between for West City Crusaders but new season, new me might bring them and wooden spooners Sydney Futsal Club greater fortune as both aim to better their win totals from 2018-19 and there is plenty of talent in both squads to be able to do so.

Round 1 kicks off with a bumper four-game extravaganza on September 22nd which includes Sydney City Eagles taking on SD Raiders Futsal, West City Crusaders hosting Raiders Futsal Club, Dural travel to Wollongong for their first voyage and Sydney Futsal Club against Phoenix Futsal Club.

The eight sides will battle through 14 rounds of action to make it to the Futsal Premier League 2 Grand Final day on December 22nd 2019.
