Former Scottish International and ex-Hakoah Sydney City boss Gavin Rae has been appointed as the new head coach for the Rydalmere Lions FC for the 2020 season.

Gavin’s playing career before joining the coaching ranks has seen him plying his trade at Dundee, Rangers, Cardiff City, Aberdeen before heading to Australia to link up with NPL NSW Men’s club Hakoah Sydney City East whilst making 14 International Senior Appearances for Scotland.

Gavin has spent the past two seasons in charge of NPL NSW Men’s club Hakaoh Sydney City East.

“I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to join Rydalmere.

“This club has ambitious plans – and there are things in place already, that will help to push the club on and make this one of the best community clubs in NSW.

“The long term vision is very exciting and aligns with how we see football also, developing youth and integrating them into a successful first grade team to lead the push for achieving its goal of reaching National Premier League top tier status – that was one of the biggest factors in joining.

“With the new pitch and stadium to come and a really solid infrastructure around the club, we can’t wait to get started.

“Neil Jablonski will join as my first grade assistant and we can’t wait to work with the team and give them a platform to express themselves and improve and be successful whilst enjoying their football.”

Rae takes over from Chris Camilleri who resigned from the head coaching position.
