Well, all the dust has been shaken off by the sides whether they triumphed or fell in the first weekend of Futsal Premier League 2 Open Men’s action and ready to go again this weekend.

Four exciting matches lay ahead and we’re ready to preview them all – let’s get onto the preview!

Match of the Round: Phoenix Futsal Club vs Dural Warriors, Saturday 28 September, 7:15pm, PCYC Hornsby

Gearing up for their first home game of the season, Phoenix Futsal Club take on a pumped-up Dural Warriors for this week’s Match of the Round at PCYC Hornsby.

Phoenix Futsal Club were sluggish in the opening round and coach Elliot Jurd was clear in saying his side “had to be better this week” against Dural. In Angus Chance, goal scorer Isaac Wylie and custodian James Brunacci they have enough to improve on their draw in the opening week and bring the Warriors back to earth.

First impressions count, and if we’re going by Dural’s first game in Futsal Premier League 2, they will be an entertaining side to follow this season. Brandon Vella and Wade Giovenali netted braces in their victory while Carlos De Oliveira and Greg Giovenali showed there is a variety of attacking prowess for Phoenix to combat in this intriguing fixture.

South Coast Taipans vs Sydney City Eagles, Saturday 28 September, 5:40pm, UOW Sports Hub

Looking to rebound after their heartbreaking loss, South Coast Taipans welcome first-up Sydney City Eagles to UOW Sports Hub on Saturday afternoon.

Sydney City Eagles picked up where they left off last season, a dominant result against local rivals SD Raiders Futsal have them soaring. The combination of Michael Cimino, Aaron Cimitile and Matthew Trotter continued to create for the Eagles as they head south looking for back-to-back victories.

Completely gutted was the feeling around the Taipans after their defeat to Dural Warriors but Bobby Mazevski’s side have shown time again, they are a resilient side. The Taipans will look to avoid back-to-back defeats on their home court and put some sting into their tails.

West City Crusaders vs Sydney Futsal Club, Saturday 28 September, 5:50pm, Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium

West City Crusaders continue their homestand with an exciting fixture against Sydney Futsal Club on Saturday afternoon at Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium.

Both sides come off draws in their opening fixtures – Crusaders played a 4-4 thriller against Raiders Futsal Club while Sydney Futsal Club drew 2-2 with Phoenix Futsal Club – ready to open their win account for the new season.

Visitors Sydney Futsal Club gave Phoenix Futsal Club a fright in the first half. The early signs are promising for them to avoid the lower reaches of the table again this season. Nathan Spinola was a consistent scorer last season and kicked off his campaign with a solid strike and hope to lead Sydney FC to success.

The Crusaders swept to the Grand Final last year, and kept the momentum going in their comeback in the home opener vs Raiders Futsal Club. The experience of Greg Kondek and Simon Zahra will be key for them to take that momentum into another successful season.

Raiders Futsal Club vs SD Raiders Futsal, Saturday 28 September, 6:40pm, Thomas Hassell Anglican College

It will be a special occasion when Raiders Futsal Club host SD Raiders Futsal in the second annual Raiders Cup at Thomas Hassell Anglican College on Saturday night.

Heading back to Thomas Hassell Anglican College will bring good memories for SD Raiders Futsal. It was the scene of their 2018-19 Grand Final victory and the visitors will want to kickstart their season with a derby win led by goalscoring brother combination Bruno and Patrick Antelmi.

Raiders Futsal Club opened their account with a point in a 4-4 draw against West City Crusaders but are ready to open the win column. They have the talent in Adam Voloder, Jovan Miladinovic and hat-trick hero Adolph Koudakpo to triumph one of the best days on the fustal calender.

Saturday evening will not just be about the football. The Raiders Cup action on court acts as the backdrop to fundraise for 90 mins for Charity. It will be a dollar coin donation at the door with all proceeds going to the aforementioned charity.
