All the cobwebs have been shaken out by the eight Futsal Premier League 2 sides, so Round 2 offers a chance for continued success or redemption in four exciting contests to play out on Saturday afternoon – headlined by Phoenix Futsal Club vs Dural Warriors in the Match of the Round.

Match of the Round: Phoenix Futsal Club vs Dural Warriors, Saturday 28 September, 6:15pm, PCYC Hornsby

Two sides coming off draws last weekend, Phoenix Futsal Club play Dural Warriors in this weekend’s Match of the Round at PCYC Hornsby.

Phoenix Futsal Club shared the points in a see-sawing 2-2 draw against Sydney Futsal Club whilst in their first bow in Futsal Premier League 2 Dural Warriors opened their account with a point in a rare 0-0 draw in futsal against South Coast Taipans.

Both sides will be primed to pick up their first win of the campaign. Naomi Majok for Phoenix introduced herself with a rocket of a shot and Dural Warriors will need to be on guard for that. The Warriors showed their defensive quality last weekend, now need to add the attacking thrust on Saturday.

South Coast Taipans vs Sydney City Eagles, Saturday 28 September, 4:40pm, UOW Sports Hub

South Coast Taipans look to build on their opening week draw as they take on Sydney City Eagles on Saturday afternoon at UOW Sports Hub.

The Taipans opened up their season with a tense 0-0 draw against Dural Warriors whilst Sydney City Eagles played out an instant classic in a 9-7 loss to SD Raiders Futsal.

Whilst they lost there were plenty of promising signs for Sydney City Eagles – Jessica Beale nailed a hat-trick with the combination of Melina Manna and Montana Bolzan created chances – if they can repeat the dose can make for an entertaining clash.

For the Taipans, the goal is literal goals and three points. Last year’s Champions have plenty of firepower in their ranks in Danika Matos and Kya Stewart to produce those goals and get them into the win column for the new season.

West City Crusaders vs Sydney Futsal Club, Saturday 28 September, 4:50pm, Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium

Fresh from their Round 1 scalp, West City Crusaders welcome Sydney Futsal Club to the Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium on Saturday afternoon for this clash.

The Crusaders produced a shock in the first weekend, defeating Grand Finalists Raiders Futsal Club, 6-2, at Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium. Sydney Futsal Club picked up a point in a 2-2 draw against Phoenix Futsal Club.

Crusaders shared around the scoring which showed there is a variety to their attacking arsenal this season. Against Sydney Futsal Club, who they thumped 8-1 and drew with 0-0, they will remain confident in picking up back-to-back victories to start the season.

Regarding Sydney Futsal Club, the point from last weekend has them already one-third to their total for last season which underlines the progress made by the side already. There is exciting talent around the side including Sutherland Shire FA stars Britney Christie and Nicole Besz, the pair may help them to get past last season’s total.

Raiders Futsal Club vs SD Raiders Futsal, Saturday 28 September, 5:40pm, Thomas Hassell Anglican College

The Raiders Cup takes center stage as Raiders Futsal Club aim to rebound when they take on local rivals SD Raiders Futsal Saturday at Thomas Hassell Anglican College.

Becoming an annual fixture, the Raiders Cup is a wonderful initiative from both clubs to help fundraise for the 90 mins for Charity: The Charity Shield. Spectators are encouraged to donate a gold coin on entry to help out.

SD Raiders Futsal were imperious in their nine-goal performance where Vesna Milivojevic and Paris Kambouris netted seven. The pair will be a vital partnership for the south-west side as they aim to move into one of the top four places, starting with retaining the Raiders Cup.

In contrast, Raiders Futsal Club were brought down to earth with a thud after their four-goal loss to West City Crusaders in their first game. There is enough talent across the Raiders Futsal Club side which can help them reverse their fortune and grab the Raiders Cup for the first time.
