Futsal Premier League moves into its second chapter with the chance for those in the middle of the pack to try and break into the top half. We have three exciting matches to enjoy across Saturday night in Round 5. Let’s move onto the preview.

Match of the Round: Phoenix Futsal Club vs Sydney City Eagles, Saturday 19 October, 7:15pm, PCYC Hornsby

This week’s Match of the Round heads to PCYC Hornsby with Phoenix Futsal Club taking on Sydney City Eagles in a match-up of two sides looking to spring up the ladder Saturday night.

The home side Phoenix will be fresh and ready to go after a weekend off with their game vs SD Raiders Futsal moved to November. Sydney City Eagles got themselves back in the winner’s circle with a 4-3 success against West City Crusaders.

Sydney City Eagles rediscovered their sharpness last weekend – their main men Matthew Trotter and Lachlan Rose – were both on the scoresheet as they moved into the top four. If they can shore up their defense they will soar back to the summit of the ladder.

Coach Elliot Jurd was frank in his assessment in his side’s start to the season. One point is not a return, Phoenix Futsal Club would expect. Saturday night offers them a chance to get going and it will be led by players like Angus Chance and keeper James Brunacci against a tough Eagles side.

SD Raiders Futsal vs South Coast Taipans, Saturday 19 October, 4:20pm, Fairfield Youth & Leisure Centre

The road trip continues for South Coast Taipans as they head south-west to take on a refreshed SD Raiders Futsal side on Saturday afternoon at Fairfield Youth & Leisure Centre.

Taipans were comfortable in their 3-1 success against Sydney Futsal Club which has them set up well in second position after the first quarter of the season. SD Raiders Futsal enjoyed a weekend off due to the postponement of their fixture against Phoenix Futsal Club.

Last time out, SD Raiders Futsal secured their first win in dramatic style. Now, they look to cut down a rampant Taipans side, with their talented attack. John Fahmi and Matthew Barkho are a pair of those talents and will make it a busy afternoon for Taipans custodian Peryman.

The loss of Matthew Mazevski may have left a huge hole in the Taipans scoring ranks but Ricky Goodchild has stepped into the void perfectly. His combination with Klime Sekutkosi has been the main thrust of the Taipans solid start to the year.

Raiders Futsal Club vs Sydney Futsal Club, Saturday 19 October, 5:50pm, Thomas Hassell Anglican College

Two sides looking to get themselves going again – Raiders Futsal Club host Sydney Futsal Club in an exciting contest Saturday night at Thomas Hassell Anglican College.

Both sides are coming off last start losses. Sydney Futsal Club were competitive but fell to South Coast Taipans 3-1 in last week’s Match of the Round. Raiders Futsal Club became the latest to fall to Dural Warriors 6-2.

Bringing together their new squad has made the first month tough for Sydney Futsal Club but there has been signs in each performance. Nathan Spinola, Dario Espejel and Alexander Euripidou created enough that they will find chances across the contest to pick up the victory.

Back at home, Raiders Futsal Club look to recapture their form from the back-to-back successes. They sit in third place in a congested Futsal Premier League 2 competition and Tomas Medimurac has been a consistent threat for goals and can strike again Saturday night.
