Round 6 offers up some exciting contests in the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Mens competition. The Match of the Round is a top four classic alongside contests which will help smooth out the ladder headed into November.

Match of the Round: South Coast Taipans vs Raiders Futsal Club, Saturday 26 October, 5:40pm, UOW Sports Hub

The Match of the Round heads south as South Coast Taipans look to bounce back against a buoyant Raiders Futsal Club Saturday night at UOW Sports Hub.

Both sides come into the contest off differing results. South Coast Taipans fell to their second loss of the season after a second-half powerplay comeback from SD Raiders 5-3. Raiders Futsal Club were bright in plundering nine past Sydney Futsal Club.

It was a true team effort from Raiders Futsal Club – nine different scorers in their third victory of the season as they moved into second spot. They have the most goals in the competition now and look to get their second back-to-back successes of the season.

Last Saturday was the one that got away for the Taipans. Their second loss of the season to a vibrant SD Raiders side will hurt them but Bobby Mazevski will have the side ready. Ricky Goodchild still remains their best goal threat with another double last weekend.

West City Crusaders vs Phoenix Futsal Club, Saturday 26 October, 5:50pm, Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium

Phoenix Futsal Club aim to get their season going when they head to Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium to take on West City Crusaders on Saturday night.

The visitors were spirited in their work against Sydney City Eagles but two late goals doomed them to a 5-4 loss to the Premiers. West City Crusaders are fresh after a weekend off due to the postponement of their Dural fixture.

Despite the loss, Elliot Jurd thought last weekend was a much more Phoenix performance. Their defense was on point and they have a deadly marksman in Jordan Smylie up front to thrash home goals. If they take a similar attitude to Windsor, Phoenix can get their first win of the season.

Crusaders needed some time to clear their head after a pair of one-goal losses in the last two games. The hosts have a wealth of experience in their line-up to shake that off and go again. Simon Zahra has three goals thus far this year and his combination with Abdul Mohseni will find the Crusaders goals.

Sydney City Eagles vs Sydney Futsal Club, Saturday 26 October, 6:20pm, Michael Clarke Recreation Centre

Fourth place Sydney City Eagles host Sydney Futsal Club in the final contest of Round 6 at Michael Clarke Recreation Centre on Saturday night.

The Eagles made it back-to-back successes with their pulsating 5-4 result against Phoenix Futsal Club in last weekend’s Match of the Round. It was one to forget for Sydney Futsal Club with a 9-1 loss to Raiders Futsal Club.

No Zlatko, no party! Since the veteran shot stopper has returned to the Eagles fold, the side have won back-to-back games for the first time this season. He made some crucial saves against Phoenix and gives them a boost for the prolific attack to prosper as they get into a groove.

Sydney Futsal Club have had their bright moments this season but since their opening weekend point, they have suffered five straight defeats. No better moment for them to get their first win against last year’s Premiers to move off the bottom.

SD Raiders Futsal vs Dural Warriors moved to December 7th
