Round 6 in the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Womens is headlined by the Grand Final rematch but there are three other mouth-watering fixtures to check out on Saturday. The ladder continues to remain squeezed tight so every result is valuable for all eight teams.

Match of the Round: South Coast Taipans vs Raiders Futsal Club, Saturday 26 October, 4:40pm, UOW Sports Hub

The Match of the Round goes to UOW Sports Hub as two heavyweights in South Coast Taipans and Raiders Futsal Club slug it out on Saturday afternoon.

The Taipans put their loss to Sydney behind them with a routine 3-1 result against SD Raiders Futsal in Fairfield. Raiders Futsal Club looked in control but were overwhelmed in the second half, 4-3 against Sydney Futsal Club.

Saturday is a rematch of last season’s Grand Final. South Coast Taipans took the trophy with a last-second goal in a manic final. Taipans have continued that momentum into this season, sat second and primed for another deep run.

There is talent across the pitch in this contest – Kya Stewart, Lisa Prior and Danika Matos have been on fire for the Taipans in their last two contests while Nicole Ossio and Sophia Hamilton are the threats for Raiders Futsal Club – so we’re set for another blockbuster contest between the two sides on Saturday.

West City Crusaders vs Phoenix Futsal Club, Saturday 26 October, 4:50pm, Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium

Fourth place Phoenix Futsal Club make the trip across town to take on West City Crusaders in an important contest at Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium Saturday.

Phoenix Futsal Club moved into the top four after their comfortable 3-1 success against Sydney City Eagles in last weekend’s Match of the Round. Crusaders were the latest to fall to the rampant Dural Warriors 6-1.

The Crusaders are seventh with four points but they are only a single victory away from fourth who are this weekend’s opponents in Phoenix Futsal Club. West City showed their success against Raiders Futsal which they put it together they can beat anyone but need to do so, consistently to make their move.

Isobel Gomez has back-to-back hat-tricks for Phoenix which has helped them into the top four in recent weeks. She has some able back up in Naomi Majok and Sarah Moore in finding the back of the net as they hunt for a third straight result.

Sydney City Eagles vs Sydney Futsal Club, Saturday 26 October, 5:20pm, Michael Clarke Recreation Centre

The surging Sydney Futsal Club head to Sydney’s south-west to take on the struggling Sydney City Eagles on Saturday afternoon at Michael Clarke Recreation Centre.

Backing up their scalp of South Coast Taipans, Sydney Futsal Club put together a second half comeback to defeat Raiders Futsal Club 4-3. Sydney City Eagles were game but were undone by an Isabel Gomez hat-trick in their 3-1 defeat to Phoenix Futsal Club.

After what was a trying 2018-19, Sydney Futsal Club are sitting pretty in equal second. 12 goals scored in their last two successes alongside the form of Morgan Maxwell and Abbey Harrison make them a tough out this season.

The Eagles have been competitive in all their contests this season. They had plenty of shots against Phoenix and through Lauren Featherstone and Kayla Spurway can find the back of the net and help to boost their points total.

Dural Warriors vs SD Raiders Futsal, Saturday 26 October, 3:50pm, The Centre – Dural (Round 13 contest)

Leaders Dural Warriors start the first of four home games in a row when they welcome SD Raiders Futsal to The Centre – Dural on Saturday afternoon.

Dural continue to lead the pack after their fourth straight victory in a 6-1 result against West City Crusaders at home. SD Raiders Futsal remain one point outside the top four following their 3-1 loss to South Coast Taipans.

This contest features the two sides that have scored the most goals in the Futsal Premier League 2 (26) and shouldn’t be short of fireworks. Rachel Perrins leads the way for Dural with eight goals while lately Mikala Tucker and Paris Kambouris are the key marksman for SD Raiders Futsal.

Warriors also lead the way defensively with only three goals conceded so SD Raiders Futsal face a tough task to squeeze past them. If SD Raiders Futsal can be the first to lower the colours of the Warriors they can move back into the top four.
