Mountain Majik v Campbelltown Quake

A resurgent Mountain Majik host win-less Campbelltown Quake at Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

After a nervy season-start Mountain join the top-four fray with just one defeat from their last five runs, and they’ll fancy themselves against a Campbelltown side licking their wounds every week of a frustrating summer.

Quake have been competitive and won’t give anything away against Majik, particularly as they hold onto a 7-4 winning edge overall with captain-coach Mark Symington tallying a ridiculous 14 goals in those 11 fixtures.

The visitors may also be motivated by an eight game-losing sequence that’s just two short of a league-record 10-straight defeats suffered by Phoenix (2013/14-2014/15) and Sydney City Eagles (2012/13).

On the other hand, Mountain can equal a club-high four successive home wins set in their debut 2013/14 season with another victory on Saturday.

Inner West Magic v Boomerangs FS

Inner West Magic welcome Boomerangs FS to Valentine Sports Park for a Saturday-evening stoush.

A seven-game undefeated run (three of them draws) has Inner West positioned four points off leaders Mascot, who they beat last weekend.

Should Magic avoid defeat once more it’ll be the prestigious club’s second-best unbeaten league sequence in 13 top-flight seasons, but still a little way off the dozen it reached during an outstanding 2014/15 summer.

Boomerangs FS aren’t the best road outfit but did get up over Campbelltown at Minto last weekend and boast a fairly impressive record versus Inner West – Magic lead the head-to-head 5-3 (one draw) with the last three scorelines reading 2-1, 2-1 and 3-3 (the last time they met at Valentine).

UTS Northside v Eastern Suburbs Hakoah

UTS Northside tackle Eastern Suburbs Hakoah in a top-four showdown at PCYC Dee Why on Saturday evening.

The northerners have set tongues wagging with a breakthrough season that sees them second just three points behind Mascot, but Easts too have shown they can fight with the best and are unbeaten in their last away games to sit in joint-third spot.

Remarkably, the two least-experienced PL clubs currently boast the competition’s two best defenses with UTS conceding just 14 times in eight matches and Hakoah 19.

Northside hold the wood over Easts with wins in all three meetings, but the last two encounters have been one-goal differences.

Enfield Allstars v Mascot Vipers

It could be all-or-nothing when Enfield Allstars face Mascot Vipers at Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre on Saturday night.

Defending champions Enfield have struggled to find any rhythm this summer, punctuated by a 7-1 defeat to Northside on the weekend, but play a Mascot side that was undone for the first time recently by a clinical Inner West.

Allstars have won their last three home games and beaten Vipers 12 times in 17 meetings (the last eight games separated by two goals or less), a loss here may push the top-four further than a result ahead of them heading into the final five rounds.

Having boasted about Enfield’s home success, Mascot have won their last four away runs – only two PL clubs have been victorious for longer on the road.
