Round 9 offers up another buffet of Futsal Premier League 2 Open Mens competition. Four mouth-watering contests take place across Saturday which is headlined by the Match of the Round between Sydney City Eagles and South Coast Taipans.

Match of the Round: Sydney City Eagles vs South Coast Taipans, Saturday 16 November, 6:20pm, Michael Clarke Recreation Centre

Two top four contenders clash for our Match of the Round this weekend. Sydney City Eagles host South Coast Taipans on Saturday night at Michael Clarke Recreation Centre.

The Eagles will want to bounce back after back-to-back losses, the latest a 5-4 loss to SD Raiders Futsal in a pulsating contest last weekend. South Coast Taipans are also coming off a defeat, a heavy 6-1 loss to the rampaging Dural Warriors.

Despite their two losses, Sydney City Eagles sit in third spot and look to avenge their Round 2 defeat to the Taipans down in Wollongong. Sam Perre has eight goals thus far and alongside Lachlan Rose are the main weapons for the Eagles in what will be an open contest.

South Coast Taipans will be stung after their big defeat to Dural and look for a bounce back. For the first time this season, the south coast side sit on the outside looking in for the top four. They will need Rick Goodchild and Klime Sekutkoski on form to get past the Eagles.

SD Raiders Futsal vs Raiders Futsal Club, Saturday 16 November, 4:20pm, Fairfield Youth & Leisure Centre

The second edition of the Raiders Cup unfolds at Fairfield Youth & Leisure Centre as SD Raiders Futsal take on local rivals Raiders Futsal Club on Saturday.

Coming into the weekend, SD Raiders Futsal have like Stella got their groove back with two 5-4 successes against the Eagles and Sydney Futsal which has them fourth. Raiders Futsal Club had their streak snapped in a 6-2 defeat to a defensively sound West City Crusaders.

Raiders Futsal Club currently hold the Cup after their overall success in Round 2. They will want to respond after their loss and look to their two main weapons – Adolph Koudakpo and Adam Voloder – to help retain their trophy.

The secret for success for SD Raiders Futsal is five! Each of their four wins have seen them score five goals and with their attack clicking on all cylinders, SD Raiders can consolidate their spot in the top four against one of their main rivals.

Dural Warriors vs Phoenix Futsal Club, Saturday 16 November, 4:50pm, The Centre – Dural

Riding the high of their first win Phoenix Futsal Club make the trip to The Centre – Dural to take on the unbeaten Dural Warriors on Saturday afternoon.

Dural Warriors continue to steamroll through the Futsal Premier League 2 competition with a 6-1 result against South Coast Taipans to make it seven straight. Phoenix Futsal Club got off the duck egg with a tense 5-3 success against Sydney Futsal Club.

This week is another two-game test for Dural Warriors. They have a mid-week fixture against West City Crusaders then this contest against Phoenix. The hosts know if they control the pace of the game and prise openings for Sam De Oliveira and Ahmad Sweedan to keep the run going.

Phoenix Futsal Club face a tough task after their first win traveling to the leaders. Elliot Jurd will have his side set up well defensively and hope to use the talents of Jordan Smylie and Angus Chance on the break to be the first to defeat the run-away leaders.

Sydney Futsal Club vs West City Crusaders, Saturday 16 November, 7:20pm, All Sorts Indoor Sports Centre

Looking to continue their hot form, West City Crusaders head to All Sorts Indoor Sports Centre to take on a struggling Sydney Futsal Club on Saturday night.

The Crusaders took their unbeaten streak to three games after their 6-2 result against Raiders Futsal Club in last weekend’s Match of the Round. Sydney Futsal Club battled hard but fell to a 5-3 loss against Phoenix Futsal Club.

Last year’s Grand Finalists found their rhythm in recent weeks. James Law upfront alongside Abdul Mohseni gave them the thrust needed against Raiders Futsal Club with Simon Zahra organising from the pivot position makes them a dangerous prospect for the rest of the competition.

For Sydney Futsal Club, they have the chance to play spoiler for the rest of the season and with the talent in their ranks, there is the opportunity for that. Nathan Spinola and Alexander Nicolosi can find the back of the net and trouble the Crusaders.
