Match of the Round: Sydney City Eagles vs Dural Warriors, Saturday 14 December, 5:30pm, Thomas Hassell Anglican College

We finish off the regular season with a mouth-watering first vs second contest as Dural Warriors travel to Thomas Hassell Anglican College to play Sydney City Eagles.

Premiers Dural Warriors moved one step closer to the unbeaten season with their 7-nil result against fellow contenders SD Raiders Futsal. Sydney City Eagles put ten past Sydney Futsal Club in their 10-3 success Saturday night.

Saturday’s fixture features the top two scorers in the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Mens competition in Wade Giovenali for Dural Warriors (24 goals) and Lachlan Rose for Sydney City Eagles (20 goals). The presence of those two sharpshooters guarantees some fireworks in the contest.

Sydney City Eagles will also be looking for a measure of revenge after their 4-1 loss in Round 7 at The Centre – Dural. Since then, the Eagles have put together five wins and a loss to make Saturday night an exciting evening of futsal between the two heavyweight sides.

SD Raiders Futsal vs Sydney Futsal Club, Saturday 14 December, 4:20pm, Fairfield Youth & Leisure Centre

Gearing up for the finals series SD Raiders Futsal take on Sydney Futsal Club in their regular season finale at Fairfield Youth & Leisure Centre on Saturday afternoon.

Both sides are coming off last start losses – SD Raiders Futsal were beaten 7-nil in a wild affair against Dural Warriors last weekend while Sydney Futsal Club were gallant but lost 10-3 to Sydney City Eagles – so both are looking for a bounce back.

SD Raiders Futsal have locked themselves into the finals weekend which will be a relief for coach Sergio Malfara and allow him to get his side prepared for the upcoming gauntlet. There is plenty of strike power in the side including Joshua Da Silva and Jordan Figon to power them through.

For the visitors, it is about ending on a high. 2019 has been a torrid season for Sydney Futsal Club with a single success to their name. Sydney has been in contests due to the scoring feats of Patrick Pace and Nathan Spinola, both will try to sign off in style.

South Coast Taipans vs West City Crusaders, Saturday 14 December, 4:50pm, UOW Sports Hub

Both South Coast Taipans and West City Crusaders have plenty of pride to play for in their final regular season contest which takes place at UOW Sports Hub this weekend.

The Taipans finals hopes were extinguished last weekend in their 5-1 loss to Raiders Futsal Club in the Match of the Round contest. For West City Crusaders, they were defeated 11-2 against fellow strugglers Phoenix Futsal Club.

There is a lot of positives that came through 2019 for South Coast Taipans. The form of Rick Goodchild which included a fabulous goal last weekend alongside his combination with Klime Sekutkoski was fruitful this season. Coach Bobby Mazevski will spur his troops on to finish the season on a high.

West City Crusaders will not repeat their Grand Final appearance from last season but the Crusaders side can move into sixth on the Futsal Premier League 2 ladder with a victory on Saturday night. They will lean on the talents of Abdul Mohseni and Ryan Faulkner for goals.

Phoenix Futsal Club vs Raiders Futsal Club, Saturday 14 December, 5:35pm, PCYC Hornsby

Phoenix Futsal Club aim to finish the regular season on a high when they host Raiders Futsal Club at PCYC Hornsby on Saturday evening.

The Phoenix will be rising into this clash full of momentum after their thumping 11-2 success against West City Crusaders at PCYC Hornsby. Raiders Futsal Club confirmed their top four spot with a clinical 5-1 result against South Coast Taipans.

Last weekend felt like a huge weight off Phoenix Futsal Club’s shoulders picking up a second win of the season at home. Coach Elliot Jurd will want his side to finish the season with back-to-back successes and take something positives from the season.

Raiders Futsal Club know regardless of the result this weekend, they will be playing into the post-season which will be a relief for the side. They will look to Marko Filipovic and Adolph Koudakpo to continue their purple patch of form ready for next weekend.
