Futsal Premier League Open Men’s side Mountain Majik picked up their first Futsal Cup in style demolishing Boomerangs FS 9-3 at Valentine Sports Park.

Hat-tricks from Christopher Barbera and Jordan Guerreiro propelled the success with Daniel Muzzarelli contributing a brace alongside the opener from Jamie Dibb saw Mountain Majik lift their first Futsal Cup after the final whistle.

Boomerangs FS battled hard tonight equalising early through Rinaudo to make it 1-1 but they were kept at arm’s length by their opponents tonight. Arlo Hook and Elie Darwich found the back of the net in an open second half as the Canberra side head home to lick their wounds before the weekend.

The crowd swelled into Valentine Sports Park tonight and were treated to a feast of futsal between two quality sides in the Futsal Premier League. The action started in the second minute with Mountain Majik Jamie Dibb cutting inside smartly to make it 1-nil.

Boomerangs FS looked for an immediate response pressed the ball which forced an error from the Majik side and Michael Rinaudo was on hand – the attacker slotted home to quickly make it 1-1 in the opening stages of this final.

Just as Boomerangs FS were celebrating their equaliser, Mountain Majik had put their noses in front again through Christopher Barbera. The sharpshooter rolled home a curled effort which brought the sizable Majik contingent to their feet at 2-1.

There was a hat-trick of chances for Boomerangs FS to work their way back into the contest. Rinaudo flicked a header wide from a Nathan Van Aalst assist then Lebanon U20s star Elie Darwich worked a pair of chances that flew wide.

Where Boomerangs were wasteful Majik was clinical in front of goal. Daniel Muzzarelli pounced on an error from the defense to make it 3-1 quickly followed by Barbera making it a brace from a slicing pass for 4-1.

Rinaudo continued to be the outlet for Boomerangs FS. His first-time effort curled wide in the 17th minute quickly followed by one that was poked wide a minute later but the Majik took a 4-1 lead into the break.

Jordan Guerreiro got himself in on the act after the break with a wonderful pass from Alexander Vlismas splitting the defense for Guerreiro to slam home for 5-1. Next, Jack Wetney played in Dib who flayed an effort wide.

Boomerangs FS pulled back a goal through Arlo Hook to make it 5-2 but that was brief respite from the relentless Majik attack. Guerreiro added his second in combination with Dib to make it 6-2 Majik with the crowd sensing the title would be headed to the green side.

The Canberra based side looked to give themselves further opportunities through the powerplay but it left their goal empty and Majik pounced.

Barbera and Guerreiro completed their hat-tricks with empty netters. Muzzarelli added his second to round off a complete performance from Mountain Majik 9-2. Liam Polinsky almost added the cherry on the cake from an incisive move but it sliced wide.

There was one final moment of joy for Boomerangs FS when Darwich – bright all evening for the ‘rangs – got himself on the scoresheet with a rifled effort into the top of the net for 9-3. The damage was done though, and Mountain Majik ran out 2019 Futsal Cup Champions.

Talking afterwards a delighted Mountain Majik coach Jamie Amendolia remarked on what the achievement meant for the Majik and their impressive performance against a side they lost to four days ago:

“The boys were disappointed to lose to the Boomerangs on Saturday. We knew our intensity had to lift and it was a deserved performance. The format means you need a good start and the boys were ready to go from the start.” said Amendolia.

On the achievement for the Mountain Majik club: “It’s really important. The club has worked hard through all age groups to get here. We had a three-year plan when I took over the Men’s program and now we’re starting to hit that mark at the right time.” he finished.
