The 2020 Bathurst Cup belonged to one team, NPL NSW Men’s Youth side Marconi Stallions, who clinched the Under 13s, 14s, 15s and 16s Boys titles as a record number of 81 teams from 27 clubs played out 185 games at Proctor Park over the weekend.

The Under 13’s group saw the Stallions defeat fellow NPL NSW Men’s Youth top tier side Blacktown Spartans on penalties while the same teams faced off in the Under 14’s with the Fairfield boys coming up trumps with a 2-1 victory in normal time.

It was an intriguing battle in the Under 15’s as Western NSW FC hosted the Stallions with the local team boosted by the home crowd advantage. The Stallions though held their never after the match ended 0-0 and prevailed on penalties.

Finally, another penalty shootout determined the Under 16’s category as Marconi took out the title winning via the spot kicks.

Football NSW Development Manager, Regional Football Andrew Fearnley was delighted with how the weekend unfolded.

“It was a great weekend as a number of regional teams had the opportunity to compete against a whole range of teams from the NPL in NSW, Capital Football as well as various clubs from Sydney.

“There was plenty of good football on display and it was a good hit-out for each club present ahead of their upcoming football seasons.

“This week sees the Proctor Park Challenge for Girls kick off and is yet another fantastic tournament set to break club participation records.”
