Football NSW is excited to announce that Bankstown District Amateur Football Association (BDAFA) are kicking off two new Walking Football programs on Saturday 29th at O’Neill Park, Yagoona and Monday 2nd of March at Playford Park, Padstow

Chiming in on what has been a huge year for the Walking Football concepts across NSW, the thirst for hosting such events has increased in a huge way.

Football NSW Game Development Officer Trevor Huxley was delighted with BDAFA hosting its new Walking Football program.

“BDAFA are doing brilliant work in growing participation figures in their region.

“Walking Football is a fantastic initiative offering a social, small-sided & sustainable version of football, specifically modified for older Australians.

“Walking Football aims to provide participants with physical and mental health benefits, social contentedness and promotes the benefits of ongoing physical activity.”

BDAFA GM Leanne Millar was equally thrilled with the announcement with the concept set to rock the football stronghold.

“In collaboration with Football NSW, we’re excited to offer a program that engages the community in an active and social environment.

“A modified format provides an accessible way for beginners and veterans alike to participate in small-sided games with a focus on fun!

“We’re taking a gentle approach to a much-loved game, allowing people to be involved in the sport for a lifetime.

“We welcome anyone interested in giving Walking Football a go to come along to our free Walking Football program beginning Saturday 29th on February 9th (11am O’Neill Park, Yagoona) or alternatively beginning Monday 2nd of March (10am Playford Park, Padstow.)

“Regardless of whether you’ve never played football before or if you’ve been playing since the day you were born, walking football is a wonderful new way to team up with others and stay healthy.”
