The FFA Cup Round 2 matches continued to flow prior to the FFA announcing all football be suspended till the 14th of April due to COVID-19 with a number of clashes that took place across pitches in NSW.

Moore Park Synthetic played host to the Glebe Wanderers who hosted the Bankstown Dragons. After scores were locked at nil-all, the Wanderers’ lethal attacker Peter O’Doherty proved to be the difference as his brace put his side into round 3 of the Cup.

Forrest Killarney made light work of Lugarno FC at Melwood Avenue as the hosts ran rampant with a 10-0 victory. Ricardo Cabrera was the star of the show as he scored four while Antoine Maurin and Genki Kawamura scored braces. Hayden Waters and Andrej Skulic also got in on the act with a goal each.

Bernie Mullane was treated to an enthralling clash as North Rocks SC defeated Lane Cove FC 3-2. A double from Jaly Panria and a strike from Zaccary Propst was enough to give the home team the win. Lane Cove’s Tim Robinson did his bit to keep his side in the match with a double but it wasn’t enough as North Rocks took home all the spoils.

It was a see-sawing affair at the Australian Catholic University Campus in Strathfield as Sydney CBD FC defeated the Australian Catholic University 3-2. Jimmy Moore, Ollie Peniston and Sam Child were the heroes for the CBD lads who headed back East with the win.

Harrington Park Reserve played host to the Harrington Park v Liverpool Rangers clash and it was the visitors who got the all-important 4-0 victory. Goals to McMah, Hogan, Sarz and an own goal from Warren assured victory for the Rangers.

Coogee United proved to be different gravy when they dispatched Emu Plains 10-1 at Centennial Park. Coach Anto Murray was buzzing with his side with Daniel Murphy the Man of the Match as he scored four goals in their ten-goal romp.

In what was a record of any FFA Cup kind, Terry Reserve, home to the Albion Park White Eagles hosted Epping FC in what was pitted as a David v Goliath clash. It certainly lived up to that theme but there were no giant-killing stories to tell, on the contrary, the White Eagles flexed their muscles as the Illawarra Premier League side smashed home an incredible thirty-one goals to nil. Cameron Morgan will surely go down in the history books as being the highest scorer of any FFA Cup match as he scored fourteen of the thirty-one goals in what was a crazy match across many areas.

Mosman FC proved too strong for the Fairfield Bulls as they took out a four-nil win at Cromer Park. Goals to Josh Bremner, Giorgio Mellos, Reginal Hore-Gibson and Mattias Zervais were enough to seal the victory.

Brookvale took care of North Sydney United with a 3-0 win at Cromer Park. A double from Justin Hayward and a goal from Josh Ciabatti made sure that the Brookie boys were celebrating that evening.

Albion Park City FC entertained Five Dock FC at Terry Reserve and it was the Illawarra Premier League side that showed their teeth with a 4-0 win. Jeremy Lawless scored a brace while goals to Adem Akkoc and Nick Hardy wrapped up the win.

Padstow Hornets had to win the hard way as they defeated the Blacktown Workers FC 3-2 at Stuart Street Reserve. Jason Becarovski and Michael Christodopoulos scored for the hosts but it was Brendan Cklamovski’s 90th minute winner that sent the Hornets fans into raptures securing victory for the Bankstown District Soccer Football Association based side.

There was some quality footballers on display at Gardiner Park as Banksia Tigers hosted Balmain District. The Tigers, coached by former NPL star and current St George Saints skipper Hussien Akil, saw his chargers through to round 3 of the competition with goals from Jason Shilas and one from another ex-NPL star in Ibrahim Haydar.

Another goal-fest took place at Jensen Park as Shoalhaven United travelled to Bankstown to take on the Bass Hill Rangers. The Far South Coast side went home happy with a 5-3 win as Alex Rolan scored a double and goals flowed from Kaine Gold, Tim Bagnell and Billy Wallington.
