Blacktown Football Park recently played host to the first coach development activity since the return of football.

The Blacktown District Soccer Football Association joined forces with Football NSW to deliver the rescheduled West Zone coaching expo for the 50 coaches in attendance from across community and NPL Clubs.

Coaches were treated to sessions from Football NSW staff members Chris Adams, Nadine Shiels, Drew Taylor and Kevin Amaya.

Sessions ranged in topics from Physical Literacy for SAP coaches thorough to topics themed around dealing with overloads and underloads and how to break lines when in possession.

The evening also saw local Blacktown Association Youth League players and Blacktown Spartans SAP players participate in the sessions.

Adams particularly was delighted with how the evening unfolded as coaching seminars were back in action once more.

“It’s pleasing to be back supporting coaches across New South Wales following the hiatus to the season from COVID-19.

“There has been some great strides throughout the COVID-19
shutdown period in the online coach development space, however nothing beats being on the turf with coaches supporting them on their own journeys and it is great that we can start to do events like this again in a COVID safe manner.”

Football NSW would like to thank BDSFA Football Operations Manager Michael Carraro for helping reschedule the event as well as the BDSFA Board and Staff for ensuring the event was COVID Safe for all attendees.
