Ever since its early beginnings in 2014, the St George Warriors have continued to carry on its great work in providing a fantastic special needs program as the club has gone from strength to strength catering for players in the local St George Football Association area.

Being a regular attendee at Football NSW’s football4all Gala Day, the program runs midweek training sessions as well as weekend matches against local St George Football Association sides with three age groups split across the program.

Open to all ages, genders and ability levels, the program has a group of highly motivated volunteer coaches as well as on-field mentors that have greatly assisted with each of the players during matches which has been one of the key reasons why the Warriors program has been so successful.

St George Warriors Coordinator Dianne Fyfe has been delighted with how the program has progressed throughout the years.

“The St George Warriors along with our great volunteers offer a great outlet for kids to get together and play football in a modified, inclusive format, while parents enjoy the fun from the sidelines.”

While St George Football Association Director Luke Taylor was proud of how the Warriors have developed throughout the years and was proud of the Association’s support towards such a beneficial program.

“The St George Warriors has its roots based on the vision of Darryl Hancock which was to offer a football outlet for players of all abilities in the district, focusing primarily on players from 5 years old through to early adulthood.

“The Warriors have since grown to over 40 players and is a key facet of the overall football program offered by the St George Football Association since 2016.”

Established by Carrs Park FC in acknowledgement to the passing of former President Darryl Hancock in 2014, St George Football Association have since taken full control of the program running each session at Charles Pirie Reserve in Kogarah Bay.

The Program is an innovative, equal access community initiative which provides a fun, inclusive and social environment for players and their families to participate in a modified team format.
