Knafeh Bakers ready to Bake and Shake at Ninevah Stadium

FROM-FOOTBALLER-TO-BAKER-1-14

Home to Southern Districts Soccer Football Association side and former Football NSW State League club Fairfield Bulls FC, Ninevah Stadium will be given the famous Bearded Bakers Knafeh makeover this weekend in a special collaboration involving the round ball game and the popular Middle Eastern delicacy.

Founder of one of the hottest pop-up bakery food trucks in Australia, Knafeh’s Creative Director Ameer El-Issa, an avid Football fan himself, was buzzing in anticipation in being able to put on a COVID-19 safe show at one of Sydney’s most iconic football pitches.

“We are friends with members of the Fairfield Bulls Football Club and we have spoken about doing a collaboration for a long time. The Bearded Bakers grew up on the football field from the age of four, so, it made sense to combine both our passions.

“Due to the current climate we are facing, we of course will be practicing COVID safe procedures as we will be operating a drive through service at the park which means our guests don’t need to get out of the car.

“We will be trading our dancing boots for football boots as well as swapping our aprons for football jerseys.

“We are looking to do a 5 v 5 game of Bakers vs Bulls so we cannot wait.

“All our bakers are enthusiastic fans of the world game and are very passionate about the future of football in Australia – we currently have a few of our bakers that play recreational football for local clubs across various Football NSW associations, such is their love for the sport.”

Asked what can be expected across the four days kicking off tonight (Thursday) from 6pm till late, El-Issa revealed it was a special event not to be missed.

“You can expect plenty of fun and ‘food theatre’ as we call it. Good hospitality and the sweet sensation we’re known for, KNAFEH.

“For those who don’t know what this is yet, think of a warm creme brûlée with crispy coating and an oozing creamy cheesy centre. It is then finished with crushed pistachios and a fragrant sugar syrup.

“The Concept of Knafeh is a marriage of two worlds: Our love for food and people and our passion and background in Architecture. Essentially, we transform shipping containers into bakeries and we tour the world baking and shaking to our mothers recipe of Knafeh.”

Fairfield Bulls Secretary Sargon Georges was over the moon when asked that the once discussed collaboration was finally coming to life at his beloved club.

“This is seen as a great promotion for our Club as their following and customer base is very large, the guys from Knafeh have agreed to wear Fairfield Bulls FC jersey’s while doing business ‘dancing and entertaining with desserts’ at our shared facility.

“With over 46K followers on Instagram and 138K followers on Facebook, if a fraction start following us then that would be mission accomplished and the icing on top of the cake but for this instance on the Knafeh.

“Their business will comply with all COVID-Safe requirements, and the overall aim is to help our Fairfield Community to step out of their homes and socialise with their friends over some famous Knafeh at the gates of Nineveh Stadium.

“We believe we are the representative Club of the ‘Fairfield’ region, we play out of the most traditional and footballesque grounds in NSW that will be on show with a side of dessert this week as you drive through.

“Football + Knafeh + FBFC is the recipe, you just need to come out and try.”
