Football NSW Ready to Celebrate International Day People with Disability

Football NSW will celebrate International Day People with Disability (IDPwD), with a week long event with numerous professionals and athletes from within the industry.

IDPwD is celebrated annually on the 3rd of December each year, although in 2020 Football NSW will be extending the festivities from the 30th of November – 4th December. The day is aimed to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability, whilst also recognising their achievements and contributions to society.

Football NSW will acknowledge this year’s theme of ‘See the Ability in Disability,’ which will be recognised throughout the week.

From the 30th of November Football NSW will be holding a webinar to kick-off the week long celebration, which will feature a variety of special guest from this inclusion space that include

  • Jacob Cross: Powerchair Athlete & Committee Member
  • Bek Macalister: Project Officer Information Linkages and Capacity Building at Uniting LAC
  • Mirella Manna: Community Engagement Manager at Mable
  • Chris Suffield: Powerchair Athlete & Committee Member

With the inclusion of Football NSW’s Charlotte Ercil Inclusion & Diversity Coordinator), who has in-depth knowledge and experience within the field alongside Manager of Coach Development Christopher Adams.

The webinar will be available to those on our social media channels, further information about the day will be available in due course.

A Gala Day will also be held on Thursday 3rd of December at the Home of Football, Valentine Sports Park. Students from local schools have been invite to attend and participate in this inclusive event, where student will have the opportunity to learn new skills and interact with others on the day,
