At Monday evening’s official NSW State Team Jersey launch Football NSW announced that Sydney United 58’s Glen Trifiro (Men’s) and Northern Tigers’ Maddie Bart (Women’s) will lead their respective sides to battle this Saturday at Perry Park when the Sky Blues face Queensland in the hugely anticipated ‘State Of Origin’ clash.

With the likes of the first ever coach to lead the Socceroos to the 1974 FIFA World Cup, the one the only Rale Rasic as well as keen football fan and former Rugby League Blues star Robbie Farah, both were on hand to present the teams with their official kits.

Midfield maestro Trifiro was honoured to have been given the captain’s armband for Luke Wilkshire’s side.

“It’s a massive honour to be able to skipper your State and I know it’s a huge responsibility and one I cannot wait to fulfil this Saturday evening in front of a packed and noisy Perry Park crowd.

“I know the boys are ready to go as training has been very intense but we’ve all gelled very well together.

“We are all focused on the big job ahead and we will do whatever it takes to bring the Cup back home that’s for sure.”

NSW’s 25-year-old midfield ace Bart was equally as proud to be leading her squad to hopeful glory under the watchful eye of head coach Jason Eagar.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to represent NSW on Saturday in what I’m sure will be a highly competitive match.

“The squad is coming together nicely and we are up for the challenge against Queensland.

“I feel very privileged to have been selected for this game among such a talented group of players and am very grateful to have been named captain.

“It was unexpected but is a great honour and I can’t wait to lead the girls out on Saturday for State of Origin and hopefully bring home the win – go the Blues.”
