Football NSW Season’s Greetings

Seasons-Greetings

As 2020 reaches its final days, we write to wish you season’s greetings and to reflect on a season that at times we thought might never get played.

The current outbreak of COVID-19 in Sydney reminds us how vigilant we must continue to be.  The fact that collectively we were able to put on anything approaching a normal season in 2020 is true testament to the hard work and dedication of volunteers, associations, clubs, players, coaches, referees, the committed staff we have at Football NSW and everyone else involved in the game.

We hope that those of you that played this year enjoyed it even more than usual in the midst of what has been a very difficult period.

To all of you who went out putting up the posters and QR codes, and setting out the sanitiser and topping up the handwash, on top of all the hard work that you consistently do to keep our clubs going, we wholeheartedly thank you.

As your state governing body, Football NSW was determined to do everything in its power to support, protect and provide solidarity to all our valued Associations and Clubs through this difficult year.

We remained in constant contact with our Associations and Clubs, keeping them informed, sharing information and working together to navigate through these unprecedented times.

Beyond our advocacy on behalf of our sport and delivery of critical documents including COVID safety guidelines, templates and plans that enabled football to restart, Football NSW provided over $2.4m worth of player capitation fee relief to Associations and Clubs. In addition, through our engagement with State Government, we were able to deliver over $550,000 in NSW Government grants to clubs, associations and branches.

We should be proud that our combined efforts allowed this season to go ahead which brought so much joy to those involved in our beautiful game.

On behalf of everyone at Football NSW we wish you season’s greetings, a safe holiday period and a happy new year. We look forward to supporting you again in 2021.
