Southern Districts Soccer Football Association are set to unearth an all-women’s facility hub as construction has almost been completed on a new $8 million sports complex in Middleton Grange, Cirillo Reserve.

The facility includes two football fields, floodlighting, terraced seating, picnic facilities, a children’s playground and outdoor gym.

The huge plus that this facility will promote is that it will be accessed by the Association’s female footballers as well as its National Premier Leagues 2 NSW Women’s side SD Raiders.

“Personally, I think it’s fantastic for women in the sport to know that they have the ability to go to a place and not be prejudiced in the sense of having males all around them,” Southern Districts Soccer FA President Andy Favaloro stated to ‘The Leader’.

“They’ll be able to have their own sort of level of development.

“To have that is going to be marvellous for women, especially for a growing area as well.”

Registrations have also commenced in the football mad area with SDSFA Competitions Coordinator Mathew Vukasin keenly anticipating the start of the grassroots football season.

“We at SDSFA are really looking forward to getting back to a normal competition schedule in 2021 after COVID-19 wreaked havoc with our preparations in 2020.

“We cannot wait to have all our teams compete in not just their respective league competitions but in Football NSW’s State Cup and Champion of Champions as well as our very own knockout competition.

“Any players wanting to register should head straight to the Play Football website to find the nearest club to them and become a part of our wonderful Football family.

“We are pushing for more referees more so than ever this year as we lost quite a few during the pandemic so please contact referees@sdsfa.com should you be interested in becoming an official today.”
