No signs of slowing down as Tohouroglou commits for 2021 season

The well adored and loved goalkeeper figure that is Gladesville Ryde Magic’s magical number 1 Kyriakos Tohouroglou has announced that he will once again don the kit, gloves and boots for the upcoming 2021 National Premier Leagues 3 NSW Men’s season albeit it at the age of 48.

Having played 223 matches for his beloved Magic, Tohouroglou, a former Olympiakos and PAOK Salonika keeper, will once again rock Christie Park and various other NPL 3 NSW Men’s venues as the fan favourite has decided to play on for another season.

In his eleventh year with the club, the winner of multiple NPL 3 NSW Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year awards couldn’t hide his delight upon resigning with the club once more.

“I’m very excited to play again this season.

“With so many talented group of young players coming through, the future of the club is looking very bright.

“I hope that I can assist by playing well along with sharing my experiences with the younger players coming through the system.

“I feel that I am the father figure of the team.

“There are also so many Greek boys at the club, I feel that I am still plying overseas, it’s such a great club to be a part of.”

The charismatic keeper contemplated retirement but its believed the Magic’s backroom staff, fans and players made star keeper, who made a handful of UEFA Champions League appearances with Olympiakos, rethink his decision.

Gladesville Ryde Magic’s senior coach Petros Manelaou knew the competition and the club wouldn’t be the same without their famous ‘Toho’.

“What can I say, he quite simply is a massive star for us and the league and we are ecstatic that he will be playing on this year.”
