2021 Football NSW Match Commissioner Applications Now Open

Football NSW is the governing body for Football and Futsal in the Australian state of New South Wales, with the exception of the northern regions of NSW. Located in Glenwood, Sydney, Football NSW is a member of the national governing body, Football Australia (FA).

We are seeking expressions of interest for numerous volunteers for Match Commissioner’s roles.

The Role of a Match Commissioner is to assist the Football NSW Competitions Department in the operation and delivery of Competitions and Tournaments administered by Football NSW. These Competitions and Tournaments include but are not limited to:

  • NPL Men’s Fixtures
  • Any other fixtures as determined by FNSW
  • Championship Series for both Outdoor and Futsal Competitions
  • FFA Cup / Waratah Cup
  • State Cup / Champions of Champions
  • SAP Gala Days
  • Futsal State Championships / Futsal Cup

Responsibilities of a Match Commissioner include but are not limited to:

  • Wearing the designated uniform when representing Football NSW;
  • Liaising with the Venue Manager to ensure the facility is presented in a fit state;
  • Ensuring the matches are delivered as per the schedule and regulations;
  • Resolving any operational or competition matters as necessary;
  • Escalating any incidents or questions to the Head of Competitions via mobile phone;
  • Liaising with the Team representatives;
  • Liaising with the Referees as required (if applicable);
  • Liaising with Medical Officer as required (if applicable);
  • Ensuring all competition equipment is provided in a fit and ready state for the commencement of each fixture, including team bench seating, working scoreboards and inflated Match balls;
  • Assisting the Match Officials when requested;
  • Complete Match Commissioner Online Post Match Report when requested;
  • Report any inappropriate activities to the Competitions Coordinator/Head of Competitions through the Match Commissioners reports within 48hrs of the completion of the match, including, but not limited to, abusive or disruptive behaviour by players, and safety or welfare concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with Covidsafe practices at each venue
  • Monitor the NSW Health Covid locations webpage prior to attending venues
  • Follow the NSW Health Guidelines

Selection Criteria

  • Strong ability to observe and report matters accurately and using the mandatory form as provided by FNSW.
  • Prior knowledge of football or experience is ideal however not essential.
  • Ability to follow regulations and schedules (prior knowledge is desirable)
  • Problem solving
  • Ability to be able to communicate at various levels, written and verbal

  • Night and weekend work is required
  • Working with Children Number for paid workers
