Over 250 players from 27 teams across four age groups recently took part in what was a hugely successful 2021 Wagga Futsal Cup played out at Equex Centre.

With Futsal fever gripping the regional town of Wagga Wagga, competition was certainly fierce as the action unfolded across two massive days enjoyed by all.

Teams from Griffith, Tumut, Harden, Cootamundra and Albury as well as Wagga all participated in the tournament as the talent pool in Regional NSW for Futsal was there to be seen by many who have continued to support the sport.

Futsal Wagga’s Sam Gray was overwhelmed with the response the tournament received as it hit a landmark statistic with 2021 club entrants breaking previous records as over 90 matches were played throughout the weekend.

“As organisers and hosts of it, that’s the kind of thing we’re looking for, just enjoyment for people,” he stated to the ‘Daily Advertiser’.

“Especially with the pandemic closing everything down, this was the first big carnival to be held regionally and it went off without a hitch.

“Our referees worked from 8am to 6pm both days but overall it was a really fun weekend that showcased our Futsal talent.”

Wagga Futsal thanked OneTeam Sports Puma, ball suppliers Deploy Football and Rebel Sport Wagga Wagga for their support.
